I reckon Poyet will be looking to get our midfield players and defenders chipping in as well. We all look to Fletcher and he does well despite being heavily marked in every game. But I was pleased to see a full back being allowed to go upfield, virtually alone, to score against Man City. Colback tucked in to cover, their defence was confused and it made the difference. To me that indicates that the manager is thinking, outside the norm, and encouraging everyone to be a football player first and foremost.
No just to the mods ....... just think what it would be like if your daft idea caught on, absolute anarchy!
Aye, a refreshing change from the days of kick and rush or lumpball eh? The football we played in the first half against City was a joy to watch mate and if we can continue and dare i say, improve on that, then i don't see any problems for us this season. There will be times when we get battered or have an off day, there'll also be injuries as well but it looks like there's a lot of thought going into the way we shape up and play these days. This weekend will be a good yardstick for me, Stoke are a team in transition like us but, are no mugs and will be difficult to beat.
I always believe that home results, in a relegation fight, are absolutely vital. As I've just mentioned, on the Stone match thread, we have to play Palace, West Ham, Hull, Norwich, Villa, Stoke, West Brom & Cardiff. If we go down we only have ourselves to blame imo.
I think a couple of seasons down the line we'll be getting most of our goals from midfield. I know Fletcher knows when the goal is but he and Jozy seem very good at bringing others into play. As we improve at our new philosophy and bring in more players to improve the squad well start pushing the ball around higher up the pitch like Southampton and Swansea have this season. As Swansea has shown this though it doesn't always work, but Soton have shown it can work. I thought this would be swansea's season to put pressure on the top 7, thought Southampton's turn would be a season off yet but it's turned out the other way round. But still going about things the right way. Southampton have just been exceptional this year. What I'm trying to say although I love the new philosophy(and been dying for us to adopt this style of play for years) we need to be patient as will take seasons to combine possession football with free scoring.
I reckon he's been consistently good, in the game against City he was fantastic, as were most. What don't you like about him? You've seen a good bit of him now. Can't be his composure, passing ability and vision can it? Or maybe you think there are other players in the squad who better him as deep lying playmaker? What's your analysis? Please indulge me.
He was class against City & if he keeps that up then I will hold my hands up & say I was wrong. in the other games his done ok, nothing to **** over like. he cost us the first man united goal because he didn't track the runner & some times he picks the wrong pass to. in my opinion Colback can do everything Ki can do.
Even by playing it down to just "ok" you've proved yourself wrong, you said he was ****e. He hasn't played ****e once. It's all well good pointing out defensive mistakes from an attacking, forward thinking player. But if you add defensive prowess to his game you're putting his value up 10-15m putting him way out of our reach, add goals and shooting as well then top Champions League teams would be sniffing around. You seem to demand some kind of finished article. I suggest you have unrealistic expectations and Ideas above our station. Oh and I don't think Colback has anywhere the vision that Ki has, though I expect Jack to add that to his game under Poyet.
Ok I was wrong, his abit better than shi*. happy now? plus he was shi* against West brom so he has played shi* before. my opinion Colback vision is just as good as Ki. haven't seen any world class balls from Ki yet. Players like Lampard & Scholes were attaking, forward thinking players but fuc* me they still track runners & Ki didn't do against Man united. so please don't pull that one.
What chance have we ever had of getting players of quality here? Like I said, unrealistic expectations. Get with the real world, you might as well be comparing AJ to Messi if you're comparing Ki to Lampard. It's ludicrous. get grip man.
Tracking a player back is a basic thing for a footballer you plum. who the **** is comparing? what a mug.
