Racing comes from Hexham, Warwick, Lingfield, Kempton and Fairyhouse. The 2.50 at Warwick looks an interesting match up between Garde La Victoire and Gone Too Far. I like the Alan King horse myself. Good bumper form and won well last time out at Wetherby and there is surely lots more to come from him. Garde La Victoire caused an upset last time out when beating Regal Encore but i think Regal Encore was given a very poor ride that day and may also have needed the run. Gone Too Far currently around 13/8 on betfair. Short priced treble: 2.50 Warwick Gone Too Far 12.45 Fairyhouse Ally Cascade 3.45 Fairyhouse Royal Caviar
From my five to follow earlier in the season. GONE TOO FAR; It’s always interesting to see the UK based McManus horses that are not trained at Jackdaws Castle and you wonder what the rationale is for sending them to the different trainers, This one is with Alan King so you would expect him to win his share of hurdle races. Thus far he has had just the two runs in bumpers and those two efforts surely signal a lot more to come. On his debut at Newbury he was beaten by a very nice sort in Oscar Rock who went on to win a Class 1 Newbury bumper on his next run. Oscar Rock did have the benefit of a previous run that day and won by a cosy length. He then went to Kempton where he won with something in hand from a very nice sort in Hannibal The Great. He will surely now go hurdling and I can see him being right up there with the very best novice hurdlers. Obviously he has since won on his debut but not as impressively as I would have liked. More workmanlike than flashy but McCoy said that he was finding plenty. I agree with the synopsis that his market rival was gifted his last win but no hiding the fact that he was very well fancied by his yard that day. This looks a cracking contest!
Doesn't make Garde a bad horse Bob! My main fancy tomorrow is RASHEED 12.50 Warwick 16-1 who I think the handicapper has underestimated. I will also be keeping an eye open for any moves for the Greatrex horse in the bumper!
I think all who have dabbled in amethyst have a very good chance I have had a small go ew AR has shown a good time /dist record I also think weegiant the fav will be there aswell so I have had a small rf for fun
Evening all, I'm off to Warwick tomorrow to watch my first ever race as an owner (syndicate). Malibu Sun runs in the 1.20. Been off the track for a long time with an Achilles problem however he has been recovered for a long time and we are all hoping he has a good run out and returns safely.
Merlin's Wish in the 14.10 Hexham 7/4 with Lads. Totally unexposed but bred to stay extreme distances. Sired by Terimon, a Bustino son. The dam is by Le Moss out of a Deep Run mare. Le Moss hasn't been an outstanding success at stud but he completed the "Stayers' Triple Crown" by winning the Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood Cup and Doncaster Cup as a 4yo. And he won the same three races as a five-year-old, defeating the future champion Ardross on each occasion. If this 4 miles doesn't suit him I don't know what will.
Came home inebriated last night (see rant on "discuss anything except horse racing thread" ) and appear to have placed a yankee on the following: 12.45 Fairyhouse Ally Cascade 1.40 Hexham Johnny Ogg 2.20 Warwick Virak 3.45 Fairyhouse Royal Caviar I'm deteremined to keep doing these until I've emptied my betting account
Ew Lucky 31 for me today: 12:50 Warwick - Dormouse 9/1 1:20 Warwick - King Massini 10/1 3:30 Lingfield - Cabuchon 7/1 3:40 Hexham - Funky Munky 11/4 4:30 Kempton - Maria's Choice 13/2
Morning all, Ive off to Blackpool tomorrow to get Betsy the donkey off the beach, shes been progressing nicely this season and expect bumper returns next season, will keep you upto speed as when to put down your hard earned! #icantaffordahorse :-(
Morning, pilgrims. Hope everyone well. Good, good. There’s a very interesting one running on the old polytrack today namely my old fave, ALBEN STAR, in the very decent 6 furlong handicap (2.30). This 5 time winner returns to the track after a 424 day absence and although his fitness has to be taken on trust today if in the same heart as when we last saw him he must go close off a perch of 94 at the quite fair odds of 12/1. The old boy had some very decent form in 2012 (3 wins and a very decent 5th in the 'Stewards Cup' off 97) and always gave the impression that he was most progressive and capable of taking high rank amongst the sprinting handicappers and, perhaps, in time even Pattern company. Intrigued to see how Alben Star gets on today and I wouldn’t put any member off an each-way tickle. Meanwhile, Mr Henderson's West Wizard could debut over timber at Ascot on Friday, people. Prepare to be spellbound, I say spellbound, if he does, troops. Good luck, all.
Morning all hope all is well on this miserable day I was really intrested in upton wood in the 1250 at warwick but the withdrawal has put that ew out the window but another in the same race has caught my eye in the past and could and should stand up and be counted after a 221 day break . At 9s ew im going to have a little bet for intrest. One other I like the look of is kilgevern boy sam takes the ride and should take the prize money , although a lot of money must have been put on elite beneficial who has been shortening in the last hour the weight and distance are very questionable . good luck all
Bet 365 are tenaciously hanging on to 14/1 for Rasheed while elsewhere 33/1 could be had! I'll hang on till B365 get the message. Glad to see Sir Barney flag up the chances of Alben Star as I did indeed have a bit of him e/w last night. I also had my eye caught by the money for Sue Smith's Camden George in the 4m chase at Hexham.
Alben Star on the drift big time, people. 16’s now availble. The market is seemingly indicating that it will be a ‘quiet’ reintroduction to the sport for this one. By the way has anyone seen the quote from Mr Henderson re Oscar Whisky’s debut race. One of the funniest lines ever delivered...
