Well - which (if any) of the players last night covered themselves in glory ( other than the Brackley team ) ?

I'm struggling to nominate any. There was a lot of underperforming by the Gills. This is extremely baffling, given the display on Saturday.
    1. I thought Nelson could have stopped their goal.
    2. Legge & Barrett were well short of their standard against Sheffield Utd. Could 2 games in 3 days be too much for them ?
    3. ( whilst accept that our best route to goal was via Weston's run down the wing ), I thought his first touch wasn't special, and his corners were/are poor. in small defence of him, I have to say that we didn't have quality in the middle to profit from any crosses by Weston.
    4. Akinfenwa - done well for us in the past - but the sooner he goes the better. I do feel a little sorry for him because of his infrequent inclusion in recent matches - but he didn't work for his 'fat' wages.
    5. Whelpdale - undoubtedly has ability - but recently (including last night) he has been slipping on the surface. Do the players not use the pre-match warm up to acclimatise themselves with the conditions ?
    6. Lee - showed about the same level of interest & involvement as Akinfenwa - and was lucky not to be booked for a lunging tackle ( in 'no-mans land' ) in the first half - when will he learn ?
    7. Martin Allen. It's no wonder that the squad may think that their performance is acceptable - Allen kept on saying that the Gills were playing good football etc. Did he say the same in the team talks on match days ?

I thought - not that I was able to get to the game - that Butcher having not seen him before played well, Dack who had a good goal ruled offside and Weston, yes Weston also played well. Akinfenwa showed he could last 90 minutes if asked and the referee on more than one occasion pulled him up for nothing challenges. Legge made too many errors. Not sure if Nelson could have done better with the goal - David James on BT Sport did not think he had much chance once it was deflected.

I thought Mousinho was pick of our players. Looks accomplished on the ball gets the cogs working and certainly has the most quality we've seen since Jack Payne left.

Agreed dont think Nelson has a chance with the goal.

Dack played well first half but vanished in 2nd

Weston although got he got at their defender, crossing and end product was pretty poor & his first touch is beyond belief. Sometimes you wonder whether he could trap a bag of cement.

BAYO, GERMAN. LEE & WESTON im afraid could all be shown the transfer list (if anyone wants them)

Personally I thought Bayo did put in a shift. He certainly chased around more than i expected to see. And he got nothing out of the ref, and very little decent service to his feet.

Weston had a decent 70 mins, then we stopped giving him the ball. Disagree about no end product. Some of his corners were poor, but i thought he put over 4 or 5 excellent crosses, but no one got on the end of them. That's not his fault.

German looked a bit lost imho. He seemed to lack confidence to me, maybe needs to be loaned out down a league to try and get a few goals.

I thought Nelson should have done better with that shot. It did swerve a bit mind.

Thought Dack was pretty decent. Got involved well. And scored again. ahem.

Agree that Mousinho looked ok. Assured and didn't do anything wrong. But we really could do with someone with a bit of flair that can unlock defences more often than we manage.

Martin played well. Top notch screamer that hit the post too (was him wasn't it?). Thought the young lad Butcher did ok as well.

Can't complain about the score as we maybe didn't even deserve a replay. But on another day we'd have won that game 2 or 3-1. We did hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times and had a decent goal ruled out. hey ho.

Does it matter that we lost yesterday? No, ok so it was embarrassing and no doubt we all got a bit of stick at work, but it was essentially a competition we could not win.

So we could have made it through to the third round and get a big tie but there was no guarantee; more than likely we would have lost at Macclesfield or got a few injuries.

The cup doesn't matter, we lost so what get over it

Let's not bother eating - because eventually we're all going to die ! ..... but it would be nice to sample a few dishes before that happens.

That's harsh alwaysright, it's true the FA cup is a competion we can not win.

In fact we can't win the league either so we might as well give up on that as well.

Always you can add churlish to the list of attributes in your signature.

To return to your food metaphor the league is our meat and two veg, the sustenance the the club lives of, the FA cup is pudding, a nice and tasty treat but you can't live of it. Yes a cup run would have been nice but it isn't essential, the league is and in this crucial time any distractions are unwelcome

I know what you mean - but try telling that to fans of Wigan.

churlish ! - that's too difficult for me - I find my sarcasm is a handicap.
Regarding matters gastromic, it's not essential that I have caviar & champagne - but once in a while a little bit of indulgence is good for the soul.
I do realise that you are used to chips in gravy - are you eating some for breakfast as you fill in a survey ? ( As you know I remember everything you say )
Regarding distractions - I can still admire the figure of Rachel Riley whilst mathematically flexing my brain - without any affect on my love for my wife.
    <some distractions are welcome>

See Wolves got knocked out last night. At least it means there will be no fixture change in January. Unless the weather decides otherwise!

Yes some distraction are welcome, some don't help the situation.

If you have having problems at home with the wife (not saying you are), similar to us trying to say in L1, constantly peving over Ms Riley won't help the situation.

The team their opponents are playing Saturday aren't non-league either but could hold a little interest for some of us. <laugh>

I do not have any domestic problems ( of which I am aware ! ) - however -
As my neighbour thinks that I'm at it with anything in a skirt ( not including kilts ), a bit of perving hardly constitutes grounds for divorce.
<don't know what women see in Brad Pitt>

edit - I'll have those two from the top Rachel, and anything from the bottom row.
