QPR and Man City face fight to land Valencia star please log in to view this image QPR and Manchester City will face a struggle to land Carles Gil after Valencia confirmed their intention to keep hold of the Spain Under-21 ace. Gil, 20, is current on his second season-long loan at Elche and is featuring prominently for the La Liga newcomers. He has caught the eye of several suitors, including City and QPR, but Valencia are keen to integrate him into the first-team fold at the Mestalla next term. Valencia president Amadeo Salvo is mindful of interest in Gil but says he does not intend to sell the midfielder in the near future. He told Spanish newspaper Superdeporte: "Carles Gil is ours and next season he will play in the first team. Interest in him from other clubs? It is a good sign that he is wanted, it would be bad if no-one was interested." http://talksport.com/football/qpr-and-man-city-face-fight-land-valencia-star-13111868547? No Champions League winners medals and not over 30? Sorry, not interested.
Cheers Norway. He's a bit young to ascertain if he's the 'right sort' or not. Looks like a good prospect though. I'm glad it's only Man City who are after him as well as us. It must make us easily the clear favourites. Here's another similar blurb that's just been released... Manchester City and QPR in fight to sign Valencia starlet Carles Gil MANCHESTER CITY, Queens Park Rangers and an unnamed third English club are all tracking Spanish Under-21 starlet Carles Gil, currently on loan at Elche from Valencia. The 20-year-old has impressed both at Elche and with Spain's Under-21s this season and reports in that country suggest that Gil is being closely watched by both City and QPR. please log in to view this image Gil will remain at Elche into the end of this season completing the second of a two year agreement but his contract with Valencia runs until June 2016. However, Gil's release clause currently stands at just £6.7m and that has alerted a host of Spanish clubs as well as City and QPR to the possibility of a bargain. Valencia president Amadeo Salvo insists that Gil won't be leaving the Mestalla despite Los Che's financial problems. please log in to view this image Salvo said: "Carles Gil is ours and next year he will play in our first team. "It is a good sign that teams want him. "The bad news would be if he was not of interest to anyone." Valencia are currently seeking fresh investment to help keep their young stars at the club but are also investigating the possibility of a co-ownership agreement for Gil. Valencia signed Dorlan Pabon in conjunction with Doyen Group and Portugese agent Jorge Mendes is also thought to be keen on purchasing a percentage of the player's rights. The situation may however be taken out of Valencia's hands if someone meets Gil's buy-out clause before a co-ownership deal can be reached. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-in-fight-to-sign-Valencia-starlet-Carles-Gil
What a load of tosh. Honestly, if you were being touted as the next big thing and for whatever reason you thought it would be better to move on, where would you go? Stay at home in Spain or maybe go abroad. If you thought that abroad might be good for you then which team ... Man City, near the top of the Premiership and playing Champions League football or QPR, near the top of the Championship and ... err, err, err, that's it. The only reason he would come is if we offered him silly wages and we don't do that any more ... ... do we? I am sure we were tracking him last year when Hughes thought that we would be climbing up the Premiership ... but now? No. Lazy journo. "I see Man City have been looking at Gil. Who else can we say is looking and squaring up for a fight ... ah, yes. QPR". Even though we are in the Championship we are still linked with a host of players ... probably because it is quicker to type Q P R than Manchester United or Sunderland and we are supposed to have loadsamoney. Journo: "Harry, what do you think of Lionel Messi?" Harry: "He's a great lad, who wouldn't want him in their team." Headline: "Redknapp to make audacious bid for Messi."
