I thought Peter Reid did a good job for us at the time. There aren't many players that get sacked as a manager then gets to play top level football again. Open for suggestions on others
Loved watching Joe Jordan in a Saint's shirt , those were good days when you never knew who Lawrie was going to sign next...lets not forget Dave Watson and Mick Mills either!
Listing Benali shows how far we have come in quality, but what a whole hearted player. You can't help not being a football genius, but Benali did all he could with what he had.
Hang on..? Have I got the measure of this thread..? Older players..? Kachloul was 25 or 26 when we signed him. Ruddock was 21-22. Benali was at Saints from birth. I thought this was about Saints signing older players, that is, ones clearly past 30 at the time. Like Frank Worthington, aged 35 at the time, and still a superb player. EDIT: oops, already suggested by Chilco.
John Beresford , Paul Allen, Carlton Palmer A couple of others who were not so well known Kevin Miller , Patrick Colleter
