http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/reds-jury-liverpool-fc-fans-6304382 A good performance on Saturday against a poor Fulham side who were fortunate that the scoreline was only four, as the Reds outplayed them. Captain Steven Gerrard returned to form with a superb display, playing a role in all of the goals and silenced the doubters. Whilst Luis Suarez continued his impressive goalscoring form with two more. It was also nice to see Daniel Agger return to the starting line-up, plus a flat back-four system and itâs no coincidence that the game also yielded our first clean sheet since September. We now have another international break and I am pleased with our current position in the table, with an eagerly-anticipated derby game against Everton next. The incentive being that a win would send us top of the league. JAY RILEY, Litherland A night on perfect set of results last weekend (barring a late Crystal Palace winner that didnât quite materialise) Liverpool took a poor Fulham team to the cleaners on Saturday, with Luis Suarez reiterating his position as a world class player at the top of his game. Surely were he available, he would command a world record transfer fee? Iâd take him over Gareth Bale any day of the week. We are clear in second place now, and deservedly so. We have quality in every position (including on the bench) and we should fear no-one. Winning breeds confidence and we must carry this through to our next game. In seasons past weâve often struggled against these little clubs we should be beating, but Iâm confident, in 10 days time, our quality will shine through. SIMON DONNELLY, Freshfield After a chastening experience at the Emirates last week, it was important that we bounced back with a convincing victory. This was achieved with a comfortable victory over a poor Fulham side. We were as impressive as Fulham were dire. Suarez, Gerrard and Henderson were outstanding and we could have won by five or six. It was an excellent weekend for us with the teams around us dropping points, we are now firmly established in the top four. We have players returning from injury, it was a weekend full of positives. Our excellent progress continues. STEVE MOOREHOUSE, Aigburth Steven Gerrard has been an elite midfield player for over a decade and demonstrated this once more against Fulham as he was first to the ball, measured in possession and dominant throughout. However the big games the initiative will be seized in midfield and for me against Manchester United and Arsenal the midfield was laboured, slow in possession and lacking mobility regardless of varying results and Gerrard was the rule rather than the exception. Lucas for me is limited in terms of game influence and creation which means Gerrard must stamp his authority and ability in these fixtures for Liverpool to compete. Gerrardâs season will be defined against the Carricks, Toures and Artetas of the league and his ability to dictate his area of the field could ultimately determine Liverpoolâs finishing position. MARK BAKER, Huyton
be a good test for both clubs where they are at this season. hopefully we can pull off an ass whooping 1-0, not really sure what to expect from the game, dirty tackles (no Fellaini though) , good football etc. as long as we get the points, all that matters.
I did say I was hoping for at least seven points from the tough five away games we faced (Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, City and Chelsea) if we were being realistic about CL football next season. We haven't got off to a good start, really. I'm hopeful of three points at Goodison, but expecting one point at best. Just praying we DON'T play three at the back against Coleman and Baines, as that would be ****ing suicide. Think we should play Sahko against Lukaku too, as I think our current centre-backs really struggled against him when he came on as sub for WBA at Anfield last season.
It's usually pretty tough at their shed and they are playing pretty well thus far. very hard to call. On paper we should win, but ar you say, Donga, tactics are critical.
They still have good players despite of losing Fellaini .We need to win it to keep up pressure on Arsenal.
We've only lost 1 league game at home in 25 or 26 outings I believe, so expecting a win would be pushing it. I agree that the tactics of both managers might ultimately decide this one. Play 3 at the back & I'd fancy us to expose the frailties of that system, play with a 4 & I think you'd stand a greater chance of imposing yourselves on the game.
Said I was hopeful, not expecting the win, but you're right about three at the back - Baines and Coleman will tear us a new one if we do that again. Then again, I hope we can play Suarez and Sturridge up front, if not Suarez playing off Sturridge. Should be interesting to see how Barklay copes, but if I was Martinez I'd say to leave Gerrard alone with no special measures and let Barklay run free. think we'd have more work on our hands watching a young talented midfielder than you'll have with an old talented midfielder. Fancy Barry over Lucas in them roles too. if truth be told. I think Henderson is going to have cover every blade of grass on the pitch to earn his place, but our joker is Coutinho. If we can get him in the game (and someone isn't designated to mark him, such as Osman) he can rip any defence to shreds, even your one. Be 0-0 then....
but Martinez has never experienced the blood and thunder of Liverpool x Everton!!!! He will certainly fail!!!!!
I'm expecting a draw... I'm still not overly impressed with our teams petformance. Could go either way of course but I suspect a draw.
I live in United States of Pruderica. Illegal to gamble here anyway. in most states anyway (mine)... unless its the lottery... because gambling is OK if the government profits.
