........ are as follows, in this order. Norwich Aston Villa Southampton Stoke Hull West Brom Crystal Palace West Ham Everton Cardiff Swansea Looking at that, if we go down we'll have blown a really good chance imo. That's 11 games with 33 points available and I can see around 20 points from those games, based on our current home form. That would give us around 27 points meaning we'd need another 8/9/10 points from away games including our next 3 at Stoke, Villa & West Ham. We have another 11 away games, after those 3, including Cardiff, Fulham, Newcastle & Norwich. That's a big ask but it's not impossible and, if Poyet is given money in January, I think we have a decent chance. Despite the chaos we've gone through we're far from stranded and a win in any of our next 3 away games would be a massive boost. I've just ordered tickets for the Villa match and I'm hoping that, by then, it will be a match when we can really start to believe. *All of the above may be incorrect due to strong drink haven been taken.
I've been barking this since the start of the season and nobody has taken a jot of notice. Some seem more interested in stats based on worst starts of the season.
They're the kind of people I've avoided all contact with over the last 40 years .......... I enjoy going with people who don't always want to see the worst possible scenario.
Norwich- bollox at the minute 2-0 Aston Villa - 1-1 Southampton - Tough one! could we start the slump for them ? 2-1 Stoke- Fancy us to hammer them 4-0 Hull- 0-1 not sure why i fancy the DGB will do us over West Brom - 1-1 sess scoring on his return ? Crystal Palace 2-0 West Ham 0-1 big sam the cnut Everton 0-2 would love to see us beat them but cant see it on the bounce Cardiff - 2-1 Swansea 2-1 proper fighting for our lives stuff Gives us 18 from 33 ! Proper fighting chance. I reckon will be more then 3 teams below us.
26 points undefeated and a piece of silverwear on the way, without antything else between now and new year would give us 33 points, reckon that will be enough add on 3 points at sids place and points picked up before xmas and boooooooooooooooooooom!
When you look at someone like Stoke, just as an example, their home games include, Chelsea Man Utd Liverpool Arsenal Spurs Not a huge difference, to ours but, as we know the margins between staying up or being relegated are very fine.
doomed in my book as it stands are : palace stoke and a n other wont be us though, i can tell probably hull, cardiff or fulham
Once we close the gap to the pack it's game on! As long as we don't get impatient and panic we could be out of the bottom 3 and rising by Christmas.
Bri..Every true Sunderland fan realised we had a shocking run of home fixtures this season. I cant and wont try to talk for others but it wasn't the results that led me to believe we were in trouble. It was the lack of fight our team displayed. I've said it many times on here two of my favourite games were defeats (Villa 1-4 at Roker and Charlton at Wembley) Both games I was lucky enough to witness from the stands. Both games we gave the lads a standing ovation despite defeat. For me our team had no fight up until three weeks ago. I don't know what Gus has done in the mean time but boy did we fight against the Scum and even better against City. We are far from out of the woods yet but if we fight like we have recently we will be no where near relegation come May.
Win every home game and we are safe on 40 points !, but we are good at home this season and no other team left in our home fixtures will dominate like Man c did, so it looks good. Win 6 draw 4 lose 1 of them and we could beat Spurs who are dodgy. We will need to win away though.
Totally agree Smug. What's so striking about this season is everybody is taking points off everybody else. Maybe 33 - 34 will be safe this year. Which means 7-8 home wins plus points away will be enough. And after the start we've had I'll settle for safety!! Never panicked this season, and more confident than ever.
We bumped into some Villa supporters, at Wetherby, on the way home, They said they'd never seen Bosnich play like that and that he 'must've been on drugs!' While I'm on, I'll just mention some of Hull's home games compared to ours. I always think home games are critical for teams in a relegation scrap. Hull are currently sitting at 12th, which looks good, but they're only 4 points off the drop zone. They still have to play these teams at home, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Newcastle, Swansea, Everton.
Our next 6 away games are: Stoke Villa West Ham Cardiff Everton Fulham... Id say 9 points from that wouldnt be too much to ask for tbh... Everton and Villa are the only real problems there imo However Evertons run has to come to an end soon
