Got invited to Cockney Roger's for Christmas dinner. We've accepted. We all go back when the pub (Cheese) shuts. He and his Mrs are ****ing maniacs when pissed (and stoned/beaked). This means it will either be a great laugh or an unmitigated disaster. Three years out of the last five, their turkey has ended up in the back yard
This where all the nobs hang out? I'd say BIG nobs, but... Mate, that'd be it for me. I'd excommunicate the ****ing lot of them (her parents, not your missus and kids, obviously). I actually couldn't get over that if they did it to me. But I know what you mean about not wanting to go, it's just the '**** you' from them. Anyhoo, Christmas. Loves it. Loves the food and the booze and the chintz and the telly (even though it's ****). Just the whole atmosphere is great.
I wouldn't talk to them for a long time. When they come round I'd leave the house. You got any bad history with the in laws or they just suddenly acting like nobs with you ?
Sounds perfect to me i am the original Ebeneza "bah humbug" Scrooge when it comes to xmas, hate all the build up and all the false back patting during it. Not sent nor received a card for the last 15 years. The fact there are loads of football matches during that time gets me through it.
Christmas is for pretentious ****ers, unless of course you are a Christian. But like celebrating Ramadan and not being a Muslim.
No it isn't, I've got three children and it's a brilliant time for the most part. There is ****e involved, in laws for instance! I enjoy it though. Anyway, got home and aired our differences after two days silence. I averted a crisis, cleared up how pissed off I was while making it clear I do NOT want to go with them. So sweats, couple of days south Wales golf with free accommodation next May or what?
You know, I genuinely try to keep everyone's feet on the ground. Comes from being a northerner! Her folks have a tendency to go way over the top, even when asked not to. I do find the over doing it, not so much pretentious, as a bit bloody sickening. Last year was brilliant, probably because we hosted it for the first time. We are again, the only downside is when it wasn't at ours i did a Christmas breakfast and they all came round for that. Full hit with champers. The new era is we do it early evening and we go to the pub for a couple of pints at about one. Works a treat. Christmas eve is better though, love it. Conversely I think new years eve is a bag of ****e.
Just book your own holiday. Somewhere better, more expensive and where youve never been. Fairs fairs.
Would you be taking a few days off work or doing it over a long weekend? Could come down on a sat afternoon then have Monday Tuesday off. Which other course? I wouldn't mind another crack at Clyne. Though I don't mind if there is another course you think is worth a visit?
It'll be likely the week of spring bank holiday so was thinking we play the bank holiday Monday at my place then Pennard and one other, Clyne if you like, on the Tuesday Wednesday. Reasoning behind that is I can use county cards and so they'd half price and the courses would be roofed over the bank holiday weekend then a lull in the week. Was thinking Machynys as an option or one of the other proper links in the area. http://www.machynys.com/golf-home.html
