    Asset = JET
There is at least 2 ways of looking at this

It is inevitable that we will need to generate funds, and JET knowing he can be sold, psychologically enhances his performances.

However, as has been said a few of the present team take up half or more of the players wage bill, deadwood in the camp must be moved on, I would say Jet would command a fee of £1.5m? moving from this division, and a move to the Championship likely. Get US INTO THE PLAYOFF'S AND PROMOTED this season and he has attained that first aim Championship football. Next season our first back in the Championship, around January he would likely command a fee of £2 -3m to a Prem side IN THE January window. This would suit all providing at that time we are "safe in the championship"..(mid to high in the table and at least 18 points above 22nd).

    Not a chance.

JET has been with us for a few months. Before that, he was deemed a failure at Ipswich and was largely considered not good enough for a Championship team. It's why we were able to land him, and on a free.

He's had a few months of good form in League 1. Not just in League 1, but in a team that was considered one of the top teams. He didn't instantly become a Championship player, and you'd have to be a ****ing moron to spend £1.5m on a player that less than a year ago was struggling to cope in the league you're currently playing in.

JET fits into SOD's system, and SOD is happy enough to accommodate him as the focal point in our system. The club are trying to float the idea of a sale to get other clubs interested in him, not because his sale is imminent. He may go in the summer, but I seriously doubt that he'd go in January with less than six months of good form behind him. If I were a Chairman the first thing I'd ask my manager if he wanted to buy JET would be "why the **** didn't you mention him six months ago when he was free?!"

Every player has his price, especially in our situation.

Championship clubs are desperate to get to the promised land, so don't be suprised if bids come in

The problem about JET is that no one wanted him before so he went from Premier League to Championship and now he is in league One with previous managers who just dont rate him and struggled with his style of football.

He appears to have found a club who have given him the freedom to do what he wants and has scored goals by doing so. I think he is similar to what Albert was that he probably isnt the hardest working player in the team but JET does get you goals

I dont think there will be lots of teams queueing up now regardless of his form as think it will be similar to the Adel Taarabt deal that the media tipped him to join a long list of clubs but in the end no one came in to buy him and this season he joined Fulham on loan as he was seen as a gamble. I heard him being described as a "fancy player" and thats why Fulham are struggling as they have too many of them in their team with also the likes of Berbatov

A lot of managers like square pegs to fit square holes and I dont think JET is that type of player so I would imagine he is happy being at City with a manager who knows how to use him.

If the club do allow him to go it has to be for at least £3m-£6m mark but I just think that the club could double their money selling him in the summer rather than January if JET keeps up his current form. Our issue is if we sell him then what as how much of that money will SOD be allowed to reinvest and can we find another goal scorer. Currently I would be happy for the club to keep JET and sell Boldock who does not fit in to the current system

I think you have to look at the fact that Peterborough sold Dwight Gayle to Palace this season for £4.5m who managed 6 goals in 20 games last season.

I don't think this January, as you intimate should or would happen, I would be more inclined to see in the summer what the picture is and then either offer enhanced, on achievements, extended contracts by 1 or 2 years to the like team players for the next 2 years or so.

Judging by how the club youngsters are developing, I feel much less uptight about the whole JET situ. If he HAS to leave, I trust that the powers that be would have enough brains to hang on to him for long enough to see us to safety.
They didnt want to sell Maynard if you recall.

By the time we do have to wave goodbye, we should begin to see the results of our Genesis experiement

I think we are all in agreement that we dont want another Maynard situation when we lost a lot of money which was all down to the club, 1 not sorting contracts out earlier on our prized assets and 2 not selling when we were offered stupid money for him.

As for JET not being a hard worker, see SOD's comments about him doing extra training.
I would hate to lose JET at this stage, but am realistic that we are a club in the lower leagus that needs to be financially viable and a really good offer will probably not be turned down.

Sorry guys but that's just the way I feel about City and I just hope as tiger said that we don't go down the same road as other clubs and sell off what's left our cider drinking soul to foreign ownership. It's not just BCFC that gets me down on what was once a sport for the masses but just the general malaise at all levels of the structure, especially non-committed players and greedy agents. Stop me there before I go off on one!

Mike....I'm not sure I believe you. If some foreign playboy with a boat load of cash (lots more than SL) wandered into Bristol and decided that he would build us a new stadium by buying off all the NIMBY houses so they could relocate to a nicer garbage dump somewhere, build a new team, get us into the Prem and make us glamorous and all he wanted in return was to rename us "Bristol Robins" or some other derivative, we would bite his hands off.

How much fight did Cardiff fans put up? A club similar to ours but more high profile as they are in a capital city? A club that has always been associated with the color blue? Answer - nothing. A few made some banners but as soon as the good timkes came, it was all forgotten. Look at them with envy as I do.

Yes, money has killed football. Yes, foreign ownership has stripped out soul. Yes, the Prem has destroyed the lower leagues and the national team. But ask any of the lucky fans from outside the Big Boys who watch their team in the Prem what they think and they will all say that "life is good".

I detest what has become of "our game" but we, the fans, let it happen as we are content with having to buy Sky subscriptions to see 100s of games from our sofas.

There is no turning back now. Ever. If you can't beat them.........

I work with a Cardiff season ticket holder, who went when they was in the old 4th division with 3-4000 fans. I joked about him selling their soul etc, his words to me was "this is temporary, the Malaysians will get bored and sell up soon. And the first thing a new owner will want to do to please the fans is change back to blue, but in the meantime he will enjoy the premier league for a bit"
What it is that annoys him is most of the protesters were not even attending back in those days when they struggled in league 4.

Same as us in sone way. Against Rovers 17000 fans sang "City till I die" but 7000 disappeared a week later.

If we want it all and not sell our soul etc then we need 15-16k fans turning up and supporting the club then we will be able to fund things.

Bloody hell tampa you sussed me out, and right now I'm counting up my shed load of dollars and will probably make an offer soon. Anything, yes anything, would be better than what we have witnessed over the last years - wouldn't it?

Would you rather have a rich owner with dodgy connections who would spend £250m+ on the club to get to the Premier League, make us play in Blue and call ourselves "West Robins"

    Or stay as we are?

Won't happen because it would be stupid thing to do when he could buy the other lot who already play in blue for a Big Mac meal
