I wonder which Financial Advisor gave him the go a head for all this. Did he say it was connected to the University?
In short, it was funding the building of the East Stand Upper, by selling ten year season tickets that guaranteed to cover the build cost.
I can't remember who it was, I just tried to find it from when I copied it onto the CTWD group, but there's nearly 600 threads on there now and I can't remember what I called it.
That extension plan is a good one but not viable. Really it means the club will lose out on cash at least until the east stand extension is finished. We need a revenue boost now, but its surely a good idea to keep in mind once the clubs trading in the black.
Totally agree it doesn't work. What happens if we go into administration? What happens if in 8 years time we are playing league two? Worse still what happens if the sale is only parcially taken up? Say only 200 apply.
Who thinks we need the ground capacity increasing?Apart from 10 games in the prem-where we could let the big clubs turn it into a home fixture we would lose the little atmosphere we have.I have been looking back at how often we play with a crowd way under capacity.Unless I can see no good reason to increase capacity other than by changing the North stand into our "kop" and introduce safe standing
Thats actually a great idea, increase the capacity at probably 10% of the build cost. Wasnt the FA looking at introducing some trials very soon?
I thought the law had changed, but only for a limited & controlled trial? Im sure I read in a local paper that Man U had applied to be part of the trail. Its still a very good option, quicker & significantly cheaper than major construction project at circa 1 mill per 1000 seats
One thought: local papers often CAMPAIGN or launch campaigns against or for a particular issue. It helps sells papers. Could CTWD persuade the HDM sports editor, or even the editor, to back a campaign to preserve the Hull City name? It would of course risk a fallout with the Allams.
Great idea. It'd be worth a try but wouldn't be surprised if the HDM were more interested in preserving their position for future interviews etc. Couldn't blame them if they did really.
isnt there still a minister for sports and culture or something ? I think once upon a time it was a little tory bloke - an ex runner his name is on the tip of my tongue (steady on !) arrgh Christopher ? he was a weasley looking thing !
Thanks v much for putting forward my idea OLM. For those who've said we don't need the expansion, the maths doesn't work etc just a few comments: 1) if you build it they will come -- it held true for the KC itself - remember the excitement of the Hartlepool game and Stuart green in his daft boots 2) by funding the extra 5,000 seats through a debenture scheme it frees up 5,000 existing seats which the club could sell to new season ticket holders 3) we might be in League 2 in 5 years - yes we might, but my plan was £25 per month per adult - a big saving on existing season tickets and £300 for a season ticket in 5 years if we're still in the Prem would be dirt cheap. It would be asking for a commitment to protect the name 4) it's really a PR battle. If you could showing a financial benefit - perhaps with the help of an HDM campaign - and find 5,000 season ticket holders who would sign a petition backing the idea it would give a PR weapon to counter Dr Allam's arguments But it's only an idea. It probably is flawed. But it might be something which could be adapted and improved. What's needed is a mole to get the season ticket holder database.
This is the type of idea that Mr Allam was asking for...he wants revenue generating proposals. This one would, although long term....and is funded by the fans. We need more of this creativity to help with our cause. For those knocking this proposal...what have YOU come up with?
