A couple of threads mentioned this recently. When Allen signed for us there was a thread on the utd board asking 'what the scousers would do when they found out Allen was a boyhood utd fan'.

I don't care who our players supported as boys. Why do some rival fans think we would be upset knowing Allen supported utd or Carragher Everton?

    Does it matter?

Keane was a boyhood Liverpool fan and was crap for us! <laugh>

Well, maybe not crap but maybe could have been utilized better. I think all this means is that they keep in touch with the scores of their "boyhood" team but that is about it.

The blue noses went to great trouble and expense to make the Gerrard in an Everton kit banner. Why? Did it annoy or upset any Liverpool fans, probably not.

There's a pic of Allen in a horrid grey Utd top on his sister's facebook. I think at a young age when you're signed by a club, your loyalties are easily swayed.

Wasnt Rio Ferdinand a boyhood Liverpool fan? lol

Then became United Captain. There is a young lad in out u21s called Cameron Brannaghan and a big deal was made when he joined us at 7 because his family were United fans.

I think its nice if you have some players that were boyhood fans, but most of the time it doesnt make much odds

  14. I actually get a bit excited when I hear a Liverpool player used to support Everton. Rush, Fowler, McManaman, Carragher, etc...not bad company is it <laugh>

Another opposite one is Baines. I know there was a debate about it a few weeks back.

There was indeed, and our resident blue friend was insisting that Baines was never a red [even though he said himself he was]. Go figure.

The blues hated them even more because of it <laugh>

Basically if you're a young lad and you get offered forms with any top club you'd be mad to turn it down whoever you support as a kid.
