    Shut down my account, Tewkes.

If I am offending you so much, do something about it.

I find it a little ironic that one of the reasons for banning JA in the first place was because he was dragging traffic away from this site and the failure to re-instate him is threatening to do exactly the same.

Ponders - if there is no way to terminate your account and you do not want the temptation to come back by simply logging off, you could change your password to something completely random such as ''oasijmdfamfklawnoaiwq'', not write it down and disable the function where it signs you in automatically.

I do not offer this advise in the hope you will take it, as I have a lot of time for a lot of what you have to say and it would be one less person to enjoy healthy CAFC related debate with, I am just trying to help.

We don't want Ponders to quit as he makes good contributions to this site. He is making clear that the reason Ackers posts the way he does it not solely Ackers fault. Ponders should stay, and Ackers should be allowed to rejoin on a trial basis if he agrees not to post about how many fish fingers Chris Powell can stick in his ears :emoticon-0110-tongu

I have my own theory why Ackers was barred. We all know that he is a founder member of that ever expanding club "WE WANT POWELL OUT" <smooch>
to which I say hear, hear, more power to his elbow.

Finally, Into the Valley are now hosting their very own Acworth Thread on which to post all Acworth related topics. Is that worth trying on 'ere ?

So what are you going to do about it?

You need to flex your moderating muscles, old bean.

Any insinuation that a2c and Mr J.Acworth are one and the same person is highly libellous.

My two pennies worth - Although only a recent contributor, I have been reading this site with interest from afar for some time as I was always intruiged at how many Charlton fans shared my view on various topics. I had always found JA's comments to provide some welcome light relief, particularly at times when there wasnt much around the club to smile about, it was just a bit too much, too often at times.

If I happy medium can be found somehow, I would be all for a JA return.

Tony Benn once said that the Labour Party is like an aeroplane. It needs a left wing and a right wing to fly. Charlton forums are a bit like that. You have some noticeable lefties like Jimmy, Captain and Chingford, some middle of the roaders like FHB and AHLL, and some right wing nutters like typical and Ponders. I am on the Powellite Wing myself. Get Ackers back, and he can sit in the cockpit.

    Vol

As you are relatively recent you will not have seen the lengths that the Mods went to in order to accommodate JA. This included allowing him to have his own thread, which I seem to recall worked for about 72 hours before he felt obliged to crash other threads. The action included 4 or five posts on the same topic within a few minutes/seconds of one another followed a few moments later by four or five more.

I was among the many that found the JA show something to avoid and when it again occupied every thread I stopped posting. If you are happy to allow him back and persuade the mods to do so then I am afraid I will have better things to do than wade through rubbish.

Tewks and SuperC have done an excellent job on here in comparison with other sites and I am (currently) happy that they have backed their previous decision.

I think we all know the mods are acting in good faith. They've got a job to do, they don't get paid, and don't deserve abuse from the forum users.

Right wing? You are joking, surely?

Despite the little gems soon to be unearthed by the High Lord of Moderation, I am as tolerant and liberal as they come.

As long as they are of Teutonic heritage.

The last time JA was on here we all tried to make it work for him. The mods tried everything they could to allow him to stay, including giving him temporary bans. But him being he was making less people come onto the forum. If he's allowed back it would simply do the same again.

You weren't on here at the time Vol but I suggested this and the Mods agreed and we used it. (http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/93105-An-idea?highlight=Ackworth thread)

The people who didn't want to read JAs posts could ignore the thread and it worked. However it got to the point where nearly everyone was ignoring JA's thread and he started making new ones again. You only have to look at these articles to see what people's opinions were:
    http://www.not606.com/search.php?searchid=2607844

I realise it may not be JAs fault and I respect him for the clear love he has for this club. If anyone suggests he is a WUM, he is not and his heart is in the right place but I don't think allowing him back on here would be for the best

The bloke might be a few sandwiches short of a picnic but from outside you shouldn't have banned him unless he defamed or harassed someone. There is an ignore button if someone didn't like his posts. You mods do come across as a bit ott and power crazed on this one.

    Just an opinion.

You could always use the ignore function on the posters profile.

We are notoriously power crazy, don't ya know?

The ban extends from the forum being spammed - I don't see there being a change since the previous efforts so we are still enforcing it. If you don't like it - ok, I'm sorry. But my stance won't be changed.

When I was up in Edinburgh recently I bought the complete works of William Topaz McGonagall. He is Scotland's other national poet, Professor McGonagall was named after him, he influenced Ogden Nash, and Spike Milligan and Monty Python paid tribute to him long after his death. I can't help but think of him when Ackers appears.

Your lack of flexibility doesn't make you right. Infact it could look like you are revelling in using your authority. I am not one of your regular users but some who are seem to think you are being heavy handed. Take a tip. Step back and consider if you are just pandering to a few who want the forum purely on their terms. A few others are leaving if he stays banned and you don't appear to be considering their views on this matter. Don't make it a clique of mates of the mods.

Having said my piece I will leave you to it.
