As old as that? It doesn't say much for this country's secondary education does it?

Bale never helped us win anything and I couldn't care less about Arsenal.
So I will say the two from Southampton that helped us win things were Alf Ramsey and Martin Chivers (albeit many moons ago!).

Well the best thing Bale did for Spurs was leaving for that cheque...

Walcott will be a good buy over time - he'll probably be at Arsenal until he's 30 ish. That's a lot of service for their money.

The best signing you could make from Southampton at the moment, would be their manager.

  9. The difference between us 'Pool, at the moment, is Goofy (ie. a decent, reliable, goal-scorer).

'Pool are living proof that you can have a ****e midfield, provided you have a decent attack.

We are living proof that a fantastic midfield counts for jack-**** without a decent goal-scorer.

And that is the only difference. If we had Goofy, we would breeze the title and the Europey.

    Well obviously Bale.

One played very well against the best, went for millions and ended up at Madrid.

The other one is just a good player yet to reach full potential.

Well,I never saw any silverware on the mantelpiece while Bale was with us.But we got a few nice pieces with Alf Ramsey and Martin Chivers.

Did you miss my link Smithy?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/7008022.stm

What season is this and what competition did we win that season?

Looks like Bale playing a part in Spurs winning silverware to me.

Greavesie would have won the World Cup for us earlier,IF Alf had picked him.But he wasn't picked and it took extra time and a dubious goal to win it for England.
Imagine Argentina not picking Messi for the World Cup Final (if they get there).

But it does look as though Bale will finally win silver with Real Madrid with the help of Ronnie and.......

I AGREE wth that, Jimbo and Hurst should have been the front two,and we wouldn't have needed extra time
