Just home having a cup of coffee after an exhausting but brilliant weekend.

I would like to thank a few people for making our meet up a great success. First of all, I would like to thank Hoops Eternal and his son for the time, effort and expense they made in getting to Kilkenny. Both of you are great lads and it was a pleasure to be in your company for the weekend. Sorry about your flight problems. Hopefully your return journey is a bit easier and you got home safely.

Secondly, I would like to thank each and every Irish QPR fan for turning up. There were 41 of us there yesterday which was a brilliant turn out considering we had a few late cancellations. People turned up from all over the country, including the North. It was particularly great to see so many kids there all in their hooped shirts. The club will have a new generation of Irish R's for many years to come.

Thirdly, I would like to thank Nuts and Inky for making sure our meet up happened. A bit of teamwork can achieve a lot. We got a great reaction from everybody. Hopefully, this will be the first of many meet up's. I am sure there will be many more at the next one.

Lastly, it was great to raise 320 euro for cancer charities by raffling the signed shirt. The lad from Waterford who won the signed shirt in the raffle was chuffed. Very generous of everybody to contribute such a sum for a great cause.

Look forward to seeing you all in two weeks.

Great post. Well done Finglas, and well done to everyone. What a fantastic effort. I really wished I could've been there to join in the day. Here's a memento from the meet courtesy of CorkeR.

    Comedy moment of the weekend-
We laid out a couple of hundred of my old programmes for people to take. After about a minute, somebody taps me on the shoulder and says, which match is this one from?? What did they have in their hand?? A girlie mag.

    Strange coincidences of the weekend-
Two of the people who attended lived two doors from each other a few years ago and neither knew the other was a QPR fan. Small world. A couple of the other lads lived a few hundred yards from each other. A lad who lives near me told me one of the local pubs has a group of QPR fans and when we play on the tele, they gather with their flags etc. A lad who lives in a small town in Co. Tipperary called Cahir told me he could have brought a mini bus full of QPR fans from the town.

Another bit of small world....one of the lads who came down from Dublin....Andy (If i remember correctly) turns out to be an old Wren boy....left there in mid 80's around 8 years after I did....

Have to say it was a triffic day and shows the power of the internet that so many people could gather in a provincial Irish town (City) to watch an obscure Championship match at lunchtime between 2 unfashionable clubs.....the roof was raised when Barton scored such was the roar that greeted it...

Fair play to Nutso, Inky and everyone else involved, thanks also to the lads from Diageo for the drinks....we have R's fans in high places......hope those that stayed in kk for the night had a great time and that the hang overs weren't too painful.

    Cheers H.E.

Do you want to tell the lads about your tale of woe on the return journey?

You'll all be getting tired of my sob stories. About 5 miles out of Southend on the way home from the airport yesterday as I was entering a roundabout, the car on my inside decided that he wanted to turn right. As I was going straight ahead at the time the two manoeuvres quite clearly weren't compatible & the result was a resounding bang! Apart from the bent bits, the steering was knackered so had to wait for a recovery truck to take us the remaining 132 miles home!

Apart from that and missing the flight on Friday we had a great weekend!

This came to mind - I recall a well travelled geology professor of mine at university, who in his first class of the semester, to ensure he had the undivided attention of his young students, used to slip in a few shots of the Folies Bergère in Paris with the other geology related slides in his presentation - certainly got mine!

Finglas. the mention of Cahir brought back may happy memories. My ex was from there and i cant believe that small town can fill a minibus of R's.

Thanks to you John22 for coming. Hope to see you at the next one and at the C&S on the 23rd November.

Espanacol, yes an English lad who married into a Tipperary family reckons he could have filled a mini bus full of R's from Cahir. Whether it's true or not, god only knows. By the way, I would say that 4 or 5 of the lads who came to the meet up were English born and moved to Ireland as they married Irish girls.
