There's no reason why we can't get something at the Emirates. No one gave us a chance at Anfield or Old Trafford & look what happened ...... Teams don't know how to cope with the pressing style - they're not used to having every player in their faces for 90 minutes & mostly in their own half. Also every player can and does score goals. Forwards defend, defenders attack & that's down to fitness. My only worry is that if Ricky, Adam & Jay R all feature in the England friendlies (which would be wonderful), is that they get injured or just plain tired. I'm enjoying the effects of vertigo!
I was watching the 90 minutes again last night and thinking that we weren't worth all this hype. I mean, we scored 3 goals in 35 odd minutes against Hull, and yet there was nothing which was making me gasp in wonder and admiration [apart from Adam], like I felt it should be. But earlier I'd watched ManU v Arsenal and was thinking there's nothing here that Saints can't beat, and I haven't changed my mind a jot either. I think it's just me and it's because I'm fascinated. I'm dissecting another Saints performance, and finding loads of errors in it, and poor levels of skill, amongst the good. They are going ever so well at present and yet they can hugely improve on what they are doing. They are nowhere near their peak, in my opinion, and that's absolutely fantastic.
I was just saying to a friend earlier actually - "this is all going so well, and we still have Osvaldo to come......"
We won't get anything from Highbury because we are not playing there. What can you get from the Emirates? Oil, shisha tobacco, baclava etc. Sorry couldn't resist!
You can sell arabic stuff on ebay for loads. Obviously miles apart but I sold a moroccan metal teapot metal tray and 6 glasses for 40 quid +7 p+p. Crazy!
Arsenal played poorly against United, after an energy-sapping win away to Dortmund (which they got without Flamini). They will almost certainly be better against us, sadly. Would be lovely to be top (though I don't expect Liverpool to lose), but realistically I'd be very happy with a point.
I think the difference this season that we can go there without fear, there were lots of away days last season when I found myself looking anxiously at the clock wishing my life away by counting down the minutes to half time or full time.
I don't rate Arsenal that much defensively so I'm confident of getting a goal. Just got to hope that Ozil and Ramsey don't turn up otherwise they'll outscore us. The only games I've predicted us to win this season are Fulham, Hull and Sunderland. Call me mad but I can see us winning 2-1, I would say 3-1, our usual scoreline, but Arsenal are at home so they have the advantage.
I genuinely feel we'll win this. There is a sense of momentum and total confidence about the team; players will be back from international duty and with a following wind it'll be a top of the table game so they'll be thoroughly keen for it. We are great against teams who try to play it out from the back - they don't know how to react when we close them down. Arsenal looked very uncomfortable even under Man U's semi press yesterday. Faced with ours, I predict a riot. Vin Jr and I will be there hopefully to say "We were there when Saints went top of the Premiership." Vin
Yes, good luck Fran, hope it goes well. And remember, the doctors aren't really enjoying what they're doing!
Looking through arsenal's results after international breaks from last season and this season and they're all wins apart from a loss to Norwich. One game after the break was the result which shall not be named...
