attempts to sign ki on a permanent deal in january should be addressed , looks like he could be the answer
We will not be buying players that will cost a lot of money until we know we are well out of the relegation battle, because if we did go down we would be stuck with high wage earners.
cant imagine ki would be mega money, but he seems to be what was needed in the side,we cannot let him slip away imo
Quinn always built in a relegation clause so that players who got relegated got paid less - and Short learnt his footballing trade from Quinn (and is far better business wise) so I reckon that any contract currently on the table at the club will have a clause in to cut the wages of the players if relegated. Ki is an excellent player - very good footballer as well as being good in the tackle. Hope we can get him on a permanent deal. Hope Wes Brown stays fit - he's like a new £15m centre half!
I'm surprised Swansea sent him out on loan in a European season. The problem, as with Danny Rose, is that if he plays well he won't be available. I think he suits our new style of play but I'm not counting my chickens. When you think we paid £8 million for Wickham and £5 million for Graham it shows where the money's gone. Swansea paid Celtic around £6 million, iirc, and he's already made more impact, for us, than either of those two lumps.
Not so sure Smug - I think he was sent out due to a run in with Laudrup rather than anything else. Just from reports I've heard and read from the Swansea camp.
Not sure how much i would pay for Ki Whilst £6m to buy so Swansea recoup there fee may be high, he would already be integrated with the squad and team...therefore would be a clever buy
Wow after 1 fantastic win there is a lot of decision making and firm opinions being banded about. We will know if Ki is worth keeping in time and the same goes with the manager, I love what he has done but as the stats say we beat Man City the last 3 times at home as well. I pray to god this is the right guy but only time and league position come the end of the season will tell in both manager and Ki, I just hope its a great and successful ride!!
Think I read somewhere that when we took him on that we put an "option to buy" clause in the agreement? Hope we did. x
Why waste January money on signing Ki? We've got him for the season anyway, we need strengthening in other areas. Sign him from the Summer budget I say.
No offence, but what's that got to do with the price of cheese? They're unlikely to recall him, but they might. If he does get recalled, then and only then will the club decide to make a bid or sign someone else. Swansea get one chance to recall him and if they don't they can't recall him. Angeloni will hardly have been sitting on his hands so will have suitable players scouted for all positions. Midfielders can generally pass a ball, they'll be plenty of suitable players out there who can do what Ki does if he is recalled. Begs the question though, If they did recall him in January it's because they need him, so why would they then sell in the same window? We'd have to go for someone else anyway. Remember Elmo being recalled? Then Bruce tried to sign him there and then, and we told him no, he's not for sale at the moment, we've just recalled because we need him, why would we sell him? weather he has a recall stipulation is irrelevant at the moment so still don't get your point.
he is the best we have in an all round capacity in midfield , i dont agree theres plenty out there at all whos available and also would come here his forward passing is as good as we have had from midfield for a long time
To be fair to the OP I think he said, "looks like he could be the answer." People are only being asked for their opinions on what they've seen so far .......... mine would be 'he's just what we need'. Ask me again in 2 months and I could have changed my mind.
Stick a bid in now, then negotiations can begin and the transfer pushed through quickly... If we wait and they get injuries then they may recall in january...leaving us a bit stuffed
he left cities midfield standing on more than one occasion by dropping his shoulder before he got the ball and instead of a sideways pass he moved forward ,yes ,forward also he has a good shot on him ,strong in the tackle and good in the air ,if hes 6million and maintains this form i for one would be very pleased with his services for keeps.
If Swansea are competing for safety with us then its in their interest to weaken us by recalling him in January. Id buy him tomorrow though, he's the best centre mid weve had for a long time imo.
Why would they accept a bid now when he could raise his own value over the season? That's the thing when you loan a player, It's on the parents clubs terms to suit their own needs not ours. Don't get me wrong I want him, but if we can find someone who's descent who can create in January, I'd rather have two in the squad competing for a place rather than just Ki.
