Without him we wouldn't stand a chance at going up. He's turning into a true inspirational leader. Don't know if he's changed but he's definitely matured. I can't praise him highly enough, a true professional. Him and Hill is so so important at the moment. Feels strange saying to be honest but I really like Joey.
Aha! The mask slips again..... In the words of Jim Carey: 'They're onto me!'
I think we all missed this one. http://www.joe.ie/football/football-news/video-joey-barton-stands-on-danny-guthries-groin-while-hes-down-injured/? Edit, I know theres no malice in it before someone goes off on one.

I always liked joey.....and got a bit of stick on here when a lot of people were slagging him off. Seems to really have the sense not to respond to wind ups and fouls towords him. Saying that i still get very nervous when he is on a yellow with half the game to go.
I have always said, that Joey is the"balls" of the team. After seeing him been wrongly sent off against naarwich almost two years ago he has been my favourite player. One incident (city match) did test my faith in him but after his season in france i was confident he would do the job with us. His comments in the papers and his tweets have never bothered me as everything that happens on the pitch is the only thing that matters to me. He is not as skillful player as Taarabt, Ãzil, Fellaini or many other prem midfield maestros but his attitude towards the game is second to none. There wasn't many of us who trusted in Joey before the season but now theres not many who wont trust in him.
We're scarily reliant on him. Even more so without Faurlin. Fantastic all season, kicked from pillar to post by just about every opponent. Just wait til he gets sent off though- you won't be able to count the 'told you so' threads on both hands.
He's building up credit, his game is about aggression and winning the ball, yellow and the occasional red cards are an occupational hazard. He'll be ok and if he does get one I won't be calling for his head...
He might look like a slightly over-exuberantly manicured lady-garden, Flyer, but I'm not sure he resembles a vagina. Looks a ****, I grant you... He and Barton were teammates at Toon, weren't they?
Early days yet but so far he has played beyond many peoples expectations. Hopefully he can remain injury free and what he did against the biscuit men was nothing short of a great show of team spirit.
Well I'm gonna say it then...I still hate the bloke. Think he is a complete to**er...although i think he has been good for us on the pitch and done well for us as a captain. Like Warnock, I dont like the bloke but accept that he is what our team needs right now. As long as he keeps up the effort then thats fine by me & I wont be slagging him off WHEN he loses it. My main priority is us going up, and if we need Barton to do it, then so be it. and FFS, get off Twiiter you c**k ! Just my personal opinion though
As we discussed on Saturday night .................. your comments are bang on. The team first, everything else a distance second.

Well if he is studying philosophy, I cant see him holding back on his views of the direction of mankind
