I am not a fan of systems but try to keep an open mind.So just for a bit of fun have put together some of the form principles i use in a rules only format and will post the selections on this thread.

I have no idea how it will pan out but will keep a RT to level stakes. The selections will be displayed with the best bog price at time of posting.

    Hi Owen,

It maybe more useful if you give us an insight into what your system is?

I have tried the much publicised backing odds against favourites and doubling your stake until one wins system as an experiment over several days, it definitely works. But like all systems and gambling the key ingredient is discipline and a massive bank. You have to blindly back the fav even if you don't fancy it and also have to have a big set of b@lls if your stake reaches ridiculous proportions.....as an example (I did not actually bet these amounts).

Race Winner Stake Odds Returns Winnings Balance
    2.55 non fav £10 2/1 0.00 -10.00 -10.00
    3.05 non fav £20 11/8 0.00 -20.00 -30.00
    3.20 non fav £40 6/4 0.00 -40.00 -70.00
    3.30 non fav £80 5/4 0.00 -80.00 -150.00
    3.40 non fav £160 3/1 0.00 -160.00 -310.00
    3.55 fav £320 7/4 880.00 560.00 250.00

Hi Jumpers, I came up with a similar idea in football. The odds for a draw are never lower than 2/1 and often higher. Pick any team and back them for a draw until they draw. Problem is of course, theoretically you cannot lose because every team draws at least once in a season but you can easily discover that you haven't got the money to continue or you can't place the bet. The risk can be reduced by waiting for a losing run to reach a certain level before starting to back and also picking a team destined for the top half of the table.

Hi jumpers as stated its uses some of the form principles i utilise to find my bets.Things which i feel can give an edge.I have tried to incorporate filters to achieve a balance quantity/quality wise. One common denominator being that all selections will be apprentice ridden.

I am not into back fitting and have no idea as to the profitability (or otherwise) of the selections but thought it might create some interest if i listed them.

Personally i feel level stakes is the best test for any approach so will be keeping a RT at 1pt win on each.

Ron...absolutely the same principle. What you need is patience, discipline and a huge bank balance for it to be profitable. You also couldn't back anything else as it defeats the purpose as this could eat into your eventual profit. So all in all, I found it too boring and robotic for a guy that likes to pit his wits against those bookie chappies. If you were a retired millionaire with plenty of time on your hands then you could do it just to earn some extra money, but then again if you were you wouldn't need/want to. I tried it for a few days just using small stakes with the aim of recouping the money I spent on my lunch but invariably I missed races due to work commitments and being unable to connect to the web.......as is the way the favourite always seemed to win the races I missed <laugh>.

Owen, Your system seems to have too many variables for a simplistic man like myself, best of luck with it though, hope it works for you <ok>
