Too many for me to have a favourite.

Partial to Cohen the Barbarian (and the geriatric horde).

Not sure that if they wanted to do a film, the Hogfather was a particularly good choice.

Smug, have a look at a book called 'The Pillars of Hercules' by Paul Theroux, you might enjoy it living where you do. In the late 1990's the author travelled from Gibraltar to Ceuta, in Morocco (the two pillars of Hercules) and wrote about his experiences, I'm sure Antibes gets a mention.

Cheers mate, I really appreciate that.

I have loads of books from the 1850's onwards that are either about, or make reference to, Antibes.

Without being arrogant I doubt there's any non-French person that knows more about this area than me.

I like Paul Theroux as he has an obscure way of looking at things and the subject sounds perfect for my taste ............. thanks once again.

BTW, what a ****ing great thread this is!

Our lass rates those Cromwell books by Hilary Mantel, she loves history (she used to be a volunteer guide at the Palace of Holyrood House as what she don't know about Mary Queen of Scot's is not worth knowing)so I will subtly check to see if she has read Agincourt, could be a good lead with christmas coming.

The book I'm reading is incredible tbh ............ it's a factual account but reads like a novel, with real suspense, despite the fact that you know what happens in the end.

Some of my Border Reiver family are mentioned which, as I wasn't expecting it, was quite thrilling for me.

    Jealous of your lass like.
