aye wear garth and ????????????? its on the tip of my tongue, began with a B i think, knocked around down there for a bit when i was at school, not good times, people used to catch pigeons to eat, grab them by the head and yank them so the head would come off in their hand in one motion

Met the future missus in the Jolly Bus. Celebrate our silver wedding anniversary next year.
If the Tube had a good band on at the end of the show I missed the 20 and had to leg to the top of Hylton Bank for the Jolly bus.
    Happy Days

Not really, before Dame dot was the other side of the Church St. But up Dundas St was another lot of flats.

[QUOTEAlso did there used to be a pub called the Bierkeller? having a mind blank of where it was.[/QUOTE]

If memory serves, I think it was about where Morrisons at Seaburn is now with the 'Funfair' behind it. Some great memories stirred by those photo's, great thread.

Jolly Bus - quality! Only bus you could get on, pay your fare and take more in change than you paid.

Not sure if I've done this right - if not have a look at Sunderland in Pictures on Facebook.
That's where this is from and there's loads of good stuff on there

Ah thanks for the memories Jerry.

Pay my money to get in, struggle into the skates that never fitted and stand for an hour holding onto the barrier for dear life. :p

    ****ing hell, The Brewery Tap.
I was in there the day the Vaux lads did their last shift.
So sad to see many a grown man with tears in their eyes.
