In the early part of the closed season in the summer of 2010 Q.P.R. unveiled a dramatically uninspiring clutch of new signings. Manager Neil Warnock had announced to the world that he was attempting to mount a series assault on the summit of the Championship but his new foot soldiers comprised a knackered left back, a journeyman midfielder with suspect knees, a portly goalkeeper just back from a drugs ban and two strikers whose lack of goal scoring in the previous season had seen their respective employers relegated. Perhaps I'm a bit too sentimental, but for certain ex-R's, like Derry, Ainsworth, Rowlands, Furlong, ****tu, Cook, Mackie, Helguson, etc. I tend to hold an interest in following how they are make out with their new clubs. Even with Ryan Nelsen - normally I would not have much interest in watching Toronto FC play in the MLS, but in the early part of the season, I actually watched a few games, with Ephraim playing too. I also begrudgingly enjoy seeing Remy score goals for Newcastle this season (like winner against Spurs today), and if Taarabt did likewise for Fulham would be following that too - hope he enjoys sitting on Martin Jol's bench (when lucky) and occasionally getting a few minutes of play. I also enjoy following our ex-Spurs loanees Walker & Townsend in their careers. Going back 40 years, the same applied to Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles after they moved on and ditto for Les Ferdinand etc. Now for other players like Anton Ferdinand, Bosingwa, Cissé, Park, Granero (still ours - injured) etc. I really couldn't care less once they took off the hoops.
