I saw the headline of your article I think wasn't it called "JDG,shelvey, routs ,dyer are **** " ?? something like that right? Yeah I read the headline and thought "what a load of bollocks, think i'll give that thread a miss" ...
Seriously, you make some good points in what you say,im not defending players blindly put the emotion is far out weighing the reality with regards to yesterday. Why didn't you post the same thread after the West Ham game? we were after all just as ineffective
Beause we were not so abysmal against West Ham, poor yes, abyysmal no. How can you even compare our game against West Ham with our second half performance yesterday? I mea we are away to Cardiff and we come out the second half and we sit deep, we do nothing. Now some will use the injury to Michu as a reason, but this was happened before and after his injury. So that had nothing to do with it. They were afraid, they were poor, they were woeful in the second half. You may consider that an over emotion, but I say that your lack of acknowledgment of our really poor showing in the second half as blind optimism.
ah but your wrong, because I totally acknowledged the duff performance in my very first post . 2 ****ty teams today were my words. My gripe has been the over reaction and singling out of certain players for over kill , you think we were really poor second half but it could well be that Cardiff were better second half. You fail to accept the alternative, seems its always ,to quote your words "dyer ****,routs ****,jdg ****,shelvey **** , that aint constructive that's just complete over reaction . The midfield operated exactly the same way in the west ham game as it did in the Cardiff game ,ie poorly. its just that your judgement is clouded in the derby day fever , im not saying we are playing well ,hell,im not even saying our midfielders are great im just saying that your not tending to look at the bigger picture . We lost to a set piece goal in a game where they had almost no direct shots on target until after they scored,it had 0-0 written all over it and the pressure of a derby game was restricting in terms of playing the purests game,as all derbies always are. don't get sucked in and try and support the players even though they pissed you off to call half the team **** is actually quite offensive in some respects, it smacks of a plastic fan attitude. next thing we will have some muppett phoning up talksport to tell collymore "laudrup gota go stan" keep calm and give it at least a few more games before you decide to do the hatchet job on our players . I understand the pain and frustration ,believe me I do but just chill out a little bit ,crap performance get over it not quite a lynching for the players though
Sorry Norway, against West Ham our players didn't sit back, so your talking rubbish. That is what happened against Cardiff, not against West Ham, against Cardiff our midfield players did so little to try to make room for a pass, it wasn't good enough. That's not singling players out, that is criticising a group of players, which for me in that game was a **** midfield performance, from all of them. Hence my topic. They were utter ****e, and thats not an over-reaction, watch the game, and tell me our midfield didn't play ****, please watch it again, watch the lack of movement off the ball, watch the lack of anything with the ball. Not just aimed at my usual favourite of being bloody lazy in JDG, but the whole lot of them. As has been pointed out by many the effort in the game was shocking, it was the worst performance this season, and I do not say that due to the derby, but for the plain and simple fact that it was our worst performance, I have never seen the Swans sit so deep whilst 0-0 at the start of the second half, unless it was against a team in the top 6. If you have seen it before, then please point out where and when. Hell feel free to look into last season too if you want, as I will be surprised if you can find a game where that happened. Who the **** sits back at 0-0 at the start of the second half in a ****ing derby.
Seen it at spurs a few games back point is the same, don't try and dress it up . The midfield wasn't very effective against west ham and wasn't in the 2nd half of the Cardiff game ,there are parallels to be drawn, west ham may have let us have more ball but the overall effect was the same, an inability to control the midfield and create chances. But as long as you think Dyer is ****,routs is ****,JDG is ****,shelvey is **** then your always gonna be disappointed watching the team, which is quite sad truth be told .
Against West Ham it was ****e. Against the Redbirds it was gutless, incompetent ****e. PS, this censorship is a load of ****ing bollocks.
I haven't bothered reading everyone's comments as I'm waiting to go into the bathroom before work and I don't think I have enough time to read and reply before the bathroom becomes vacant. I am absolutely gutted by the result, I might have been able to take it more if we had lost to a moment of brilliance but we lost to bad defending. The lack of passion from most of our players was pretty disheartening as well. I was also disappointed we left our record signing on the bench. Laudrup has reasons though and I accept he knows more about that situation than me and I'm sure Laudrup's special plans for Bony will play dividends in the future. Another thing that got my goat was Williams' rant after the game. I completely understand his frustrations and anger but I think he should be saying these things in the changing room out of the way of microphones. What has happened has happened though and as gutted I am by the result I'm hoping it will become the catalyst for the season. We need to get behind the team even more after this!
Top 6, I did say a non top 6 team. We are expected to sit back against a top 6 team. There is a difference, at least we tried to push against West Ham, we didn't do it well but at least we were trying, that didn't happen in the second half v Cardiff, they did it the first half, but not the second, yes there is an arguement that Cardiff played better second half, but were they really that good to keep us pinned in our own half until they scored? Not a chance, we failed to get hold of the game because for me, our midfield were not doing enough with and without the ball, the only midfielder for me that at least attempted stuff in the second half was Dyer, and even then he wasn't getting anywhere, but at least he was trying to create an avenue for our defence to get the ball too. Routs, JDG and Shelvey were just static and marked for the whole second half, and made very little effort to get away from their markers and allow room for passes to feet. That for me is unforgivable. And as long as there are fans who think we should be happy with what we got, and are not willing to voice their concerns, then it won't be long before we are back in the doldrums. Someone has to say something. Do I want to voice it to a point where people get sacked, no, I want our players to stay, they all offer us something, but at the moment they are not trying, and that is not good enough for me. It may be for you, and you may be happy sitting there thinking this is what we are, this is Swansea City, and this is something I am content with. But I for one am not happy. I know damn well our midfield are not as **** as they are, Routs and Dyer we have seen in the past what they are capable of, so why are they a shadow of their former selves? Shelvey is an enigma, and new to the team, so I have a bit more time for him, he is young and will get better, but he still needs to put effort in even when the game is not going to plan, JDG started off last season fantastic, but since the drop in form of the whole team, our midfield have not been back at their best. And like I said, if you are happy with the **** performances being given, then by all means, sit there with your arms folded and saying its ok, we are just Swansea City, we will make do, but I will not put up with lazy performances when it took guts and effort to get us to where we are. And if we are so wrong, then ask yourself, why are our defenders shouting at our midfielder's so often for not giving them an avenue forward, I seen a handful of occasions when our Defence were having a go at our midfield. And its not just in the last game, its in pretty much every game, you can see it in Michu's attitude too with the lack of service, Bony looks lost ffs in this team. Why? I know you may not like to criticise our players, but bloody hell, they need a boot up the arse, and they will not get it if people say nothing.
I know exactly where you are coming from, swanselona. It's not that our midfield players are crap, it's just that right now they are playing like crap, which came to a head on Sunday. You are right. The midfield as an unit have become lazy, become static. Their movement off the ball is minimal. They offer little options to the man on the ball and their immobility is killing our momentum. It's little wonder the defenders are losing their cool with them. And the effect on Michu is there for all to see. His body language is graphic and you almost feel him screaming for the service he just isn't getting. He is working his backside off whilst the others are strolling it. This is bad news, folks. The midfield is the engine of every team. Just like a car, when the engine misfires or breaks down, the car slows down or stops. Our team is slowing down and, if the problem isn't addressed........ So let's define energy, work rate and that dirty word (to some) commitment. These qualities have been misinterpreted by many as our players rushing about the field expending energy like brainless idiots. Wrong and WRONG again!! Coaches will tell you, and they should know, that the midfield should always be working, but in subtle ways. Just moving a few yards to create space to receive a pass, is work rate and energy. But the whole team have to be doing it, CONSTANTLY and for 90 minutes. Pass and move. Pass and MOVE! When you stop doing it, you hand momentum to the other team. This is where commitment comes in. Players now need to be committed to win the ball back as soon as possible. They now have to be prepared to track, step for step, the runners of the other side and go with them. I'm not singling out JdG deliberately, but his was the most recent obvious example of us conceding a goal because he was not committed enough to win a vital tackle for a ball that was there to be won. But the thing is, it only takes one player to ignore his responsibilities for the whole thing to fall into disarray. One of his team mates is now drawn out of position to cover the gap and you have a domino effect where your defenders are all shuffling across to cover other gaps as they appear. In other words, the entire side has lost its shape, which is when goals are conceded. It's not called a TEAM game for nothing. There's no two ways about it, our midfield have lost spirit, lost their zest. They haven't lost their ability just the ability to produce their best form: and we are the sort of team that needs its players to be somewhere near their best form for us to compete. Whether this is a physical thing (fitness) or a mental problem (attitude/character) I don't know, but I don't get paid to know. Michael Laudrup is paid and I'm sure that he does know, will be working on it and will put it right. Finally, just to put Sunday's abysmal performance into some sort of context, remember that the week before, Norwich had 31 attempts, say it again, 31 attempts at goal against the same Cardiff side we allowed 65% possession in the second half. On another, luckier day, they could have got TEN. Yes, the same Norwich side who are on many a pundit's list for relegation. Are Norwich a better team than us? Do they play better football? In my opinion, nowhere near. I know what I think is the reason, you guys can draw your own conclusions.
... I know , mad isn't it , the guy even thinks I accept ****e performances too!! One thing that has always been levelled at me was that im far too harsh on our players and don't think positive enough, well, meet the new breed ,the ones that think our players are always ****,not one but 4 of them and if a scape goat can be found then best to use it, step forward JDG The fact im telling others to get a bit of perspective must mean that they are completely going overboard! im usually a harsh critic myself but recent posts by some people have taken the negative vibe to a whole new level
Ivor, agree with those comments if you wish but having had a look at the crazy over reaction from some I think its fair to say the emotion has taken over logic. "If we keep deteriorating like this Laudrup can fcuk off too" - valley graduate. "Routs, dyer,JDG,shelvey can all f%ck off" - Swanselona. Dress it up and divert from the topics if you wish but comments like this lack total class IMO . That was my original gripe hence my post about some jacks being a complete embarrassment, which these comments prove to be true The other stuff that you are talking about, well im not a million miles away from your thoughts there and they are fair comments ,we have not played great for a while and something is missing.
KJ you know me , there are times when I get totally pissed off with the team too, but in all my years of supporting the Swans if never wished any of the players who normally do well to f%ck off after a couple of bad games, ive also never wished a manager who has done so well to f%ck off because of a dip in form. When the chips are down real fans stick by the team, not stab em in the back . Swanselona thinks he is on a crusade to improve the swans by telling people half the team is fcuking sh!t , not sure how that works, especially as we know these players are good and are proven in our system and have done well, the only exception is shelve. How deluded some people are becoming look at this for example. "And as long as there are fans who think we should be happy with what we got, and are not willing to voice their concerns, then it won't be long before we are back in the doldrums. Someone has to say something" - swanselona. Talk about an overreaction to losing a derby game 0-1 to a set piece goal that another ref would have disallowed due to a foul on the defender . There will come a time to voice concerns if the off colour form continues but it aint just yet, lets be honest ,since when did winning away in the prem league become something that was our god given right ? Correct me if im wrong but didn't we not win away in the prem league under Rodgers until Jan 1st ? Arnt we top of our euro league group and unbeaten? Arnt we on the same/more points then this time last year after playing harder teams ? So how the ****ing hell are we heading back to the doldrums exactly ? Oh, I know, its because we lost to Cardiff!... Honestly, some Jacks are muppets ,10 games in mid table and playing at 70% with plenty of room for improvement, calm the f%ck down and give it a little bit more time before you start playing armchair managers, tactical genius's, fans leaders and all round general experts on all things to do with football...you don't know whats best, most of the time you know fook all, just like the rest of us
Great post post Ivor, and how I see it too, it was shambolic of us to have capitulated to the extent we did second half, giving Cardiff of all teams 65% possession, a newly promoted Championship side, was complete and utter sacrilege, and I'm not interested in the rhetoric of our players, I want to see action on the pitch, and those players that are not cutting it should be dropped, regardless of who they are, time now for Laudrup to get firm with the players, I have a feeling he's too soft with them!.................
Your on the wrong thread, you should be on the Cardiff City comedy classic thread. You want to pray that Fulham and Norwich win this weekend or one of them will be after Malky.
