Boggers the spuds never had CL place only Europa so although they would want to try for it, I expect it wouldn't be a hardship for them getting top 6 and more Europa. Scum is different as the fans expect CL every year. The squad seems thin and Moyes doesn't like taking risks so you will see them splash cash in January. Funny quote from a mate whos a toffee, he said the Everton fans would not want to swap Martinez for Moyes. Scumchester fans are only just realising how boring football can be under non-expansive Moyes. The one saving grace they have is the young squad who are tied into long deals. They may only lose RVP, Rooney etc as Vidic is on his last legs as well as Rio and the frog left back is going, so Moyes needs players.
Fair points Doc. I wasn't saying that Spurs had a CL place, I just think they're one of 6 who are competing for 4 spots this year. Will be interesting to see if Scum splash the cash in January and who they can get. Most players who would be worth having would be cup-tied for the CL. So why would they want to come just to possibly play in the premiership to give the CL players a break? More to the point, who could they get to replace RVP and Rooney. Losing those two would be a massive problem.
Fair enough Doc i stand corrected, however the parachute payments they received for the previous 3 years would had more than covered their wage bill and running costs, financially they are on a par with the teams you listed.
Ringo I don't know what they did with their cash because I know they are skint right now, and needed the Austin money from QPR to balance the books. Last season they flogged Rodrigues to Southampton as well, so must have had some serious cah problems. However they do own their own ground unlike us. Maybe they have a few dodgy directors like Derby did, because they just walked off with the parachute money when jewell was manager
Whats the difference between Wolves and Blackburn - £8m on Jordan Rhodes as without his goals last season Blackburn would be down with Wolves in L1. Rhodes yet again is right up there with the leagues top scorers, just wish we could afford a top scorer!
McCormack is currently the 5th top scorer in the league, and I wouldn't say we have seen the best of him yet this season, he has more to give. We have enough goals in the team, its the creating of the chances I am more worried about
Blackburn just posted a loss of £36m and its expected to reach £40m by end if season ... go figure!! They are in huge trouble and must get promotion THIS season. Birmingham are ruined financially and expected to hold a fire sale in January to help the club ... relegation a genuine possibility now. QPR must go up this season or they will be in a ridiculous situation and stuck with high wage earners. Leicester ... well this is the last roll of the dice for them, no promotion and their finances look threatening. Leeds ... I am happy we're not over stretching financially, the additions of Dexter and MZ will help us a lot, our players are starting to settle into the new formation ... in this league we have a real chance thanks to the inconsistency of everyone else.
Look at how Leeds have got on against established/fancied Championship teams though Derby - lost Burnley - lost QPR - lost Reading - lost Millwall - lost Those 5 teams will all be up there at the end of season, and Leeds won't as class usually shines through in this league
