He (Laudrup)is only stating the obvious , we are in a league within a league and no shame in that .this is our 3rd year at this level and where as the "big" boys have spent in relation to their size so have we , just to keep pace .Why would Huw want to cause a rift (if there isn't already one ) between himself and the manager , there's 3/4 of the season left and if the manager should go after this one then I'd say Huw'e timing is way out.So it may be reverse physiology at play here but it could be a dangerous game to play as the manger is no one's fool
Going off thread, what a bloody disgrace we were today, we were absolutely clueless at Legoland in the final third, and we have lost all heart and soul, some of our players should hang their heads in shame, totally bottled it in the second half, something is really wrong with our squad this season, and only Huw Jenkins and Laudrup know the real issues, but we are a shadow of former seasons!................
Laudrup is a realist and may not be very media savvy when it comes to the politics of paper talk. Laudrup comes across as very laid back so someone has to light the fire perhaps? Huw is the politician of the piece and has to say the right things even if they are not palatable.
Fair point but I think the opposite is true. Laudrup is extremely media savvy and huw has form for not being 100% comfortable in that environment Congrats on the win by the way taff , I thought both teams didn't do enough to win it but you took your chances and we didn't
A had fought win, my heart said a win for us but my head kept saying you would stuff us big time, so I preicted a 1-1 draw! Not sure what Malky said at half time but it had the desired effect. Do you think too many were perhaps thinking about your Europa league game this week? I like to think we bossed you out of the game 2nd half but I think that is only a part of the story.
I'm curious, can someone pull together ML's history of successes ..................as a manager. We continue to talk as if his place in world rankings as a player has transferred into his career as a manager but I don't think it is anywhere close. Georgie Best and Gazza exciting good players but as a manager ........ piss up in a brewery comes to mind. I think it was Henry Ford who said 'Whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're probably right' This is what Huw is referring to.
I wouldn't put Laudrup in the same class as Gazza on the management front would you? He turned down a team playing the CL to stay with us and you don't become a wanted manager if you're bad at your job. But I do think he has to shoulder some of the responsibility for our recent dip in form and our lack of tempo.
he is clueless and always have been clueless thats why his management CV is nothing to write home about. He has destroyed a winning formula that was the envy of everyone, we were talked about on every football programme and in every football magazine, now we rarely get a mention anywhere and huw cant fail to notice that we are going backwards however much fans refuse to accept it...
Some of us want to give him time to see the bigger picture Dai! But having said that, it's not looking too good at the minute, and something has to give, and I'm sure Huw Jenkins and our board will be having their input on corrective measures from here on in!.................. Never forget the Sousa situation, there's the precedent set in stone Dai!
Exactly Knackered. Now I hate to agree with Dai butI used to beam with pride when I watched the games last season and heard them extoll the virtues of Swansea City - it happend pretty much every game until the cup final - This season the only comments we get is that we need to be more clinical in the final third.
I completely agree with Huw here. It has cost us points...You only have to look at the end of last season...Solid stats. We got 'safety' then dropped off. I think Huw has every right to say it in the media as well. He wants the fans to know that we want success beyond measure...We shouldn't settle for defeats against the big clubs. We should be fighting with everything we have got in every game. To be more ambitious than is necessary!
Amd thats the point rhys. laudrup has only ambitions in europe as the better we do the better his CV will look, all he wants to do in the prem is to survive as he will be off at the end of the season anyway and he wont give us a second thought. Huws hands are tied as he cant sack him after all the fuss that occurred before the season started and he certainly wont want to pay a few million in compensation thats for sure....I cant understand how some on here cant see how poor laudrup has been ever since he joined the club. I was all for giving the guy a chance but as far as i'm concerned he is pants. the fans put him so high up on a pedestal that they are feeling silly now and why they did that was daft as his managerial experience was nothing to write home about...Im afraid we are stuck with him until the season ends and i'm sure if he does not go then Huw will give him a shove....he is a nice guy but he is not for us..
In general I allways think Swansea have played more then well against the bigger teams. But we do just not win any of the matchs against them. Laudrup has a big club mentality. Smaller club is just cannon fodder.

Roy bentley now he was a good manager at the time...some great men there that were gentlemen to the core when football was soccer and local lads were playing for little wages....Aaah those were the days down the old vetch. 2/6 for a seat and 1/6 for the north bank...
I have been told that dragon was great mates with Walter Whittaker i can believe it too.. sorry could not resist dragon..
These things can be taken out of context but even if these are HJ's thoughts I cannot see the benefit of saying them to the media. What is he hoping to achieve... perhaps another fallout with a successful manager! ML does make these sort of comments to the press, but I am sure he is doing everything he can to compete with all teams and I think his history suggests he enjoys the odd big scalp. Of course with lots of games he cannot allow himself, media or players to dwell on any result, they have re-focus on the next game. ML talked up Valencia and still does but his team went over and got the win. If the players start to believe this different league stuff then that is a problem but either way Huw should not go talking to the media. I am sure most of respect HJ for sticking to the club's philosophy but occasionally he seems to pick a fight. For example the problem over the summer could have been a disaster and possibly has effected chairman - manager relations. I hope HJ has been miss quoted.
In our first 50 years we had 9 managers. In our second 50 years we have had 34 - a sign of the times!
