Little things like Blackburn being happy with our cast-offs. Being disappointed that Hudd didn't get an England call-up, or that we're the last game on match of the day. Then you remember wishing we had a team that could compete with Lincoln City.
Looking on that Southampton ref thread and seeing that he reffed us in a 3-3 draw with Rushden does it.
Seeing Sperz' larkers like Friedel creaming their pants cos they'd beat us 9-8 in a shoot-out. Seeing Everton having to nobble our larkers to be able to win. Knowing that we are head, shoulders and torso above the next best team in Yorkshire. Beating the two massive NE 'giants' with relative ease. Being a featured club in MatchAttax. Not having to wait till midnight to see a clip of us getting off the coach on the Football League show.
Remembering the long journey down to Yeovil for the promo match and a complete stranger (a City fan) after the match offering me a swig of Champagne out of the bottle.
Seeing us on Match of the Day, being taken seriously is a pretty good indicator of how far we've come. Seeing Stockport in the Skrill North is also an indicator of how times have changed, they spent most of my relatively short lifespan in the Championship and I remember going to Edgeley Park thinking "they're going to batter us".
Seeing other managers talk about us before a premier league game, or not scrolling through teletext to find us.
Never watch footie on TV as it lacks the experience & atmosphere a real game provides, so MOTD etc make no difference to me, I wouldn't know if we were first on or last I also hate what TV & the money that comes with it (Sky etc) have done in destroying the game as a sport everyone can afford to watch
People who have known I have been supporting City for 40 years asking me If I can get them Liverpool tickets, then me having to bite my tongue to tell them to F off.
Actually going to the games, instead of just reading about them in the fail, and pretending i do. Getting to see Stephen Gerrard again.
The realisation that this year we won't be going to the city game on boxing day, because of who we'll be playing against. Last year, Lessa and Leeds, no problem.
On the subject of that, I went past a Barclays in Hudd city centre today. On the entrance wall it had a massive picture of Gerrard surrounded by fans. I thought it was a quite nice pic until I noticed virtually all of them were wearing City stuff. ****ing embarrassing.
Sadly not. It was this picture, but it was black and white apart from Stevie G which is why I didn't notice at first. http://www.premierleague.com/conten...enditions/cq5dam.thumbnail.490.338.margin.png
Or buying 4 Sunday newspapers for a 2 sentence paragraph giving the names of the scorers. Then going back several times throughout the day to read it again.
The interesting rise in the amount of Hull City shirts worn out and about coinciding with a decrease in the amount of White ****e shirts.
i remember that, if i remember you could never find highlights of the game unless calender/look north occasionally showed them,
