I would play Wynter in front of our defence to stop us getting rodgered from midfield. Maybe in place of Reid, as we have Gillett as a playmaker. Otherwise it could end up 4 bloody 5 (or 1-5 more likely)
Go along with all of that. Taylor did nothing Saturday. Elliott is past sell by date and Flint, is a good header of a ball but otherwise looks a weak link at the back. Shorey did fine but as someone else said, you would expect something more from someone who has an England cap. Gillet for the time he was on did pretty well
To be fair Gillett looked a tidy player would like to see him start, wanted the ball and was every where looked good.
need to play Taylor is short of games and will improve 13 Parish 02 Moloney 22 Shorey Osborne Flint 03 Williams 21 Pack 25 Elliott 18 Taylor 10 Emmanuel-Thomas 11 Wagstaff
Don't rate Maloney?? To be honest neither do I, but he's a slight improvement on our last couple of rb's
JGF; So just one change for you with Osborne replacing Bobbie Reid? Shorey, Flint, Elliott And Pack were truly absolutely awful v Oldham. Taylor looked lost because like Baldock in previous games, the ball is just launched up into the clouds as our sole method of going from back to front. We need to play with a pattern that will give the opposition something to worry about instead of a negative shape that immediately tells opposition and City supporters that we are scared of the other team and line up narrow to try, in vain, to not concede any goals. It just is not working.
Flint, only gives me confidence in the air. With the ball at his feet he is vulnerable. Elliott is past his best days and when on the ball, he either is falling over it or passing it on like its a hot potato. Happy to put a tackle in, but we could have Rooney and Van Persie up front, it wont make any difference if we just lump the ball up to them. We need creativity in midfield.
Parish Maloney, Flint, Williams, Cunningham Gillet Wagstaff Reid, Bryan, Harewood, Jet. Team will probably be nothing like that and if it was we would probably get stuffed, but what do I know!!??
Guys - haven't you got it yet ? It doesn't matter what team/system we play we're f****d. SOD is bringing the whole club, players and fans, to a low - on par with 1982.
I wouldn't mind it if we tried playing without forwards. It seems to be one of our weaker points, and our midfield seems to be propping us up, so perhaps strengthen the midfield and use JET as the main attacking force. Maloney and Cunningham get a ton of space to move around and build attacks, Pack and Gillett are there to link up play and protect the defense aggressively, Bryan and Reid are inverted so they can cut inside and provide for JET and Wynter. Having that buffer between the attacking midfielders and the defenders mean that we can aggressively press when we don't have the ball, and if any of the defenders decide to push up to get the ball, or to play with it, we've got Pack and Gillett there to slot in. Assuming Pack and Gillett pick up cards, they are easily swapped out for Baldock and Elliot/Wagstaff to move to a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2. 4-6-0: Attacking and Pressing Fielding Maloney, Flint, Osborne, Cunningham Pack Gillett Bryan JET Wynter Reid Out of interest, has any other team in League 1 tried playing without forwards? The only team I can think of in England that has used it recently is Chelsea.
Barcelona did it as well as Spain, They won their games but look at the players they have.... Couldn't see it working here.
------------Parish-------------- Moloney--Flint--Williams--Shorey --------Reid----Wynter--------- Burns-------JET-----Cunningham -----------Krans--------------- I like Wagstaff but I would love to see Burns and Cunningham playing wide as both players have pace and love to make runs in to the box and with Krans being a poacher type player those front three with JET behind I think would do well. As for centre defenders I dont think there are two that stand out above the rest as we will struggle to keep a clean sheet regardless of who is at the back so its jut a case of scoring more than we let in.
OK, here's my team and set up. Parish. Osborne, Flint and Williams. Moloney,Elliot,Gillett,Pack,Bryan. Jet, Taylor. Hurts me not to pick Reid but Bryan gives the team balance.
Is it ? I thought he was advertised as a skillful playmaker. Certainly he was described as the player who makes it all work in a SOD side In that case I would have him alongside Wynter in front of defence. I like the idea of trying Krans or Burns upfront alongside Taylor or Baldy. We wont really know until he tries them (and they cant be worse than what we've tried already) ---------------------------Parrish Maloney/Shorey---Osbourne---Williams----Cunningham ------------------Wynter---Gillett-----Bryan ------------------------------JET ---------------Baldock/Taylor---Burns/Krans What of Pearson ? is he fit and ready to fight for his footballing life ? When are we going to stop giving out long contracts ? JET is the only player i've seen thus far who has earned one
