looking at the table this morning i knew we are only a quarter of the way through the seasons but we are starting to build some good gaps between teams. 1 Burnley 14 17 33 2 Leicester 14 11 32 3 QPR 14 9 31 4 Blackpool 14 6 27 5 Reading 14 5 23 6 Not Forest 14 5 23 7 Watford 14 7 22 8 Leeds 14 2 20 so the top three teams are pretty close. you would think one of these teams will start dropping points. i am guessing Burnley and hoping its not us but it could stay like this for a while. we are 4 points clear of blackpool which is good but what looks even better is that we are 8 points clear of reading who are two places below us and more importantly nine points away from watford who will be pushing for a play off place. i can see us winning are next three games reading might be a tough one but charlton at home and doncaster away should be reasonably easy. hopefully by christmas we will have made these gaps a lot bigger. much that getting up through the playoffs would be good i would bite your hand off if you offered me second place at the end of the season.
Almost a third of the way there in my glass half full goggles ! Totally agree though-it looks pleasing at the mo! Wish there were 2, not 3 clubs up there though.....:-(
As I said before I was hoping for mid table at Christmas with a good run and take the lottery of the play offs, this is sooooo much better
Long way to go yet, key games coming up next month and we should have a better idea of our chances by the beginning of January. I think Leicester are looking like our most serious threat, they've got a strong squad and several goalscoring threats. I still think Reading and Wigan will come through to challenge for the top two places...
I just wanna be close to the top 3 come Jan....thats when it will matter. right now we are doing better than i thought we would be ! Other Q You might want to take a breath every now and again
It was good to hear Maclaren saying we have the best squad in the division. He didn't need to say that and I hope he is right.
6 points from the next 2 games would be brilliant. get another little run going. yesterday's win was crucial imo, esp after leicster hammering Watford. in fairness to burnley they did well to come from 2 down.. barstewards!!
I really don't want to look too far ahead. Let's not crow and keep our feet firmly on the ground. (The urge to go onto Norwich's board last night was huge, but I managed to resist as these things can come back to bite you).
Big game next week at the fake hoops. If we win we go back top at least for a few hours. Millwall did us a favour yesterday, pity they couldn't hold out for the win but taking 2 points off Burnley for us is a good result.
We're bang on course that's for sure. I believe it will come down to squad strength as to who takes top spot. Bias I know, but I'd say we have greater strength in depth than the teams around us. As for the January transfer window, I don't suppose Burnley have too much money to throw at it, not sure about Leicester though.
All those in the shake-up in January will look for loan deals including ourselves, in one way it's like building a house of cards, you go up and will the loanees stay? You miss out and you're back to square one. Whoever plays that loan game best will go up...
Has Carroll gone back to Spurs. How nice would it be if they loaned us Kane in some sort of recompense
Burnley & Leicester are both looking very strong right now, so we are doing well to keep pace with them for the top 2 spots. More importantly, we are 9 pts ahead of 7th place Watford (who looked woeful against Leicester) and 11 pts ahead of 8th place Leeds, so if we continue playing like this, we would appear to at least have the makings of a top 6 placing. Come season end, I would certainly like to avoid the stress of those playoffs.
Me too. But I think COL is wise to keep his counsel. One week you're doing great and your enemy is in disarray and the next its the opposite.
