I've slept on it now. I accept I'm now in a minority, but if Hughton is sacked on Monday I will be MORE worried about relegation. There are loads of examples of managers getting sacked after a string of bad results, and things getting far far worse under the new man. When manager's are given a chance to turn it around themselves, they often manage to- someone mentioned Lambert's 8-0 humiliation last season. That also followed a run of encouraging displays without getting the results. We're rightly disappointed, but not in crisis. Four points from our next three games still looks perfectly possible. If we get that we will be out of the relegation zone and will have our belief back...
This is fair comment RT, but I think it is at the stage now where even if that happens, it will only take a small run of results to not go for us, and the lynch mobs could be out in force once again. I have no idea if he has lost the dressing room or not, but I know he has lost a much higher percentage of the fans than this time last week.
This is true, Thai. I've been very much 'benefit of the doubt' up until now, but the two no-shows this week have hammered that final nail in for me. I just don't see a way back now under Hughton, which pains me to say but is sadly true. Something to do with 'final straws' and 'camel's backs' springs to mind
I wouldn't entirely rule out six points from the next two home games West Ham can't score and Palace are on a run of six conscutive defeats. This is our big chance to get back in it.
I agree, with just a little bit of luck and a good attitude we can beat West Ham and we won't make the mistake of underestimating Palace. I genuinely believe we can win both.
The point is that these two games are a world away from travelling to Emirates or Etihad.I do wonder how much better yesterday might have turned out had we fielded a whole reserve side at OT and put a side unchanged from Cardiff who despite failing to score had a good game.
Well we've managed to lose 11-0 in Manchester this week with hardly a shot on goal and still didn't manage to put the ball in the back of the net against Cardiff despite having 31 attempts !!
I'm a supporter of Hughton but I think he now has two games to keep his position. If he were to go Adkins or Slaven Bilic would be my suggestions.
