Now look here all you naysayers.. I remember Sunderland losing 1-0 to Manchester bloody United with 10 men and only conceding in the 90th minute a few seasons ago.. I don't like Sunderland but it's never simple to beak down a team that only has damage limitation as a raison d'etre.. 3 points is all. I rest my case.
you contradict yourself, then auto-correct and then leave us with a luke-warm bowl of goulash.. We scored the goal when Sunderland had ELEVEN players. You can drool over our resiliance, bravery and stubbornness all you like (and so did I) against Everton & Spurs but facts prove that we gained 0 points and were knocked out of a cup into the bargain.. Do not overlook the fact that we've had many injuries, we've played 120 minutes mid-week and in this scenario many teams wouldn't have won today. Lift a glass and be merry.. Last time we were in the PL we LOST all 4 games agaionst these psuedo-Geordie fouling half-wits..

Gus Poyet: "If, every time you make a tackle and don't get the ball, it's a red, then we might as well start playing with puppies." Is that twat blind or wat!

Couldn't agree more. Although everyone wanted us to knock a couple of 2nd half goals in it is never that easy even against 9 or 10 men. Also for everyone complaining about our strikers, how many chances did they miss? The muppets sat behind me kept bellowing SHOOT every time we had the ball, totally pointless all we needed to do was keep the ball and keep moving it around. At the end of the day the game was spoilt by the 2 red cards but the job was done 1-0 and 3 more points thank you very much.

Anyone else think it seemed like Sunderland were playing for a draw from the beginning? They sat deep and time wasted from the very first whistle, I'd be worried if I were a Sunderland fans, themselves and Palace could well find themselves cut adrift soon.
Definitely. On the first half showing, Sunlan were the worst side I’ve seen this year. For all their fans’ bluster pre match, they clearly came for a point and were blatantly time wasting from the first few minutes. In a lot of ways, this was far more embarrassing than the two sendings off. The second half was a write off in terms of football. We had it half right though – keep possession but as said, 9 men organised as they were, are tough to break down. Credit to Sunlan for their second half performance in a lot of ways and were effective without the ball. I also thought Fletcher did well and gave them the designed outlet. All in all, very happy with a crucial three points and if we can beat Palace and Stoke, we’re more than half way to safety.
I couldn't believe it. Off the back of a derby day win I expected them to come out all guns blazing, instead they're milking throw-ins and goal-kicks for every second they can! A sign of how poor Poyet thinks his own team are or how much respect we've gained from our start? Bit of both I suspect.
playing against 10 men is sometimes difficult enough, how many games in the PL have a team faced 9 men for the whole of the 2nd half? yes ideally we should have had a scoreline to match Manchester City v Norwich BUT at the end of the day we have 3 points, which is more than Palace, Sunderland and Stoke - and if Poyet really thinks his excuses for sending offs are going to work, he has another think coming - he was thrashed in his first game, lucky against Newcastle and lucky against us (and people see past his excuses come the morning)
Dangerous and rather naive talk, that. Do you not remember the second haf of that first season in the Premier League???? Way, way, way too ealy to start talking like that! Don't do it!
Quite. If you have a scan at Sunlan forums they’ll have you believe that it’s a club the size of Juve who plummeted to some rank depths by losing to some 4th Division club. But they were time wasting from the first minute and were under clear instruction to do so. Surely, to such a massive massive club that must ****ing hurt as much or more than the defeat. On a different note, I completely forgot Altidore was playing today.
After about 40 minutes I said to my mate that we'd put one or two crunching tackles in - we were playing dirty and they were time-wasting, so both sides were as bad as each other. Then came injury time... The Cattermole challenge looked bad but in fairness I was some distance from it and in real-time would have been satisfied with seeing him booked. Dossena had his back to me for his challenge so I didn't get a very good view of it. If I were Bruce, I'd get the players in for training tomorrow. The second-half was an embarrassment. The lackadaisical attitude of some players nearly cost us three points against nine men.
