Hoillet is starting to get a hell of a lot of stick from the stands, and his self-belief looks shattered at the moment. He's clearly a confidence player, so all the abuse is likely to be unhelpful. Prior to the injury layoff he was our most potent attacking threat, and I feel he can really regain that form with the crowd behind him. Although his decision making is often poor, he's one of our more direct players, which is what we're dearly lacking at the moment. I was hugely disappointed with M.Phillips performance for the EDS last week, he looked uninterested and unfit. Against Wigan though, there were signs that he's starting to regain some form... Perhaps he's one of those players who can only really get up for/perform on matchdays. I'm predicting we'll start seeing good things from him over the next few games Ale produced his best and most assured performance for a long time. His confidence is back, and if he can repeat these levels for the rest of the season, we'll have a real asset on our hands again. Here are his highlights for anyone who missed them: Danny Simpson? Absolutely superb. A constant ball of energy and enthusiasm, under-rated ability on the ball. He's a premiership player in my opinion. Chevanton looked surprised and pleased when his name was briefly chanted, I get the impression he's a player who'll feed off support from the fans. Keep him happy and feeling valued, and he could still have a major impact on the rest of the season. This one isn't really an observation, but on LCI it was suggested that we're not being direct/creating chances currently due to our slow CB's who need midfield cover. From the sounds of things Onouha is well on the mend, so fingers crossed he's fit for Charlton after the international break
I know it's early days but what's the verdict on Phillips? By all accounts he's not setting the world on fire is he?
We can't forget he's been out with injury for a long time, and then had his comeback scuppered by a recurrence V Yeovil (and he's only 22!). I thought he looked sharper and hungrier Vs Wigan though, and has all the attributes to be a decent winger. Got him as my wildcard scorer for the prediction league this week
For me, Hoilett consistently flatters to deceive. He clearly is one of our most potent threats in terms of pace, but the other aspects of his game - decision making at critical moments, crosssing, shooting and so forth - are pretty awful. He may be direct, but when he gets there the wrong decision is made time after time. Hoilett seems like a younger SWP, although Shaun was better at his age. Hopefully he'll get better but from what I've seen so far I won't hold my breath.
So good to see those highlights of Ale. He's looking good again and showing all the hallmarks of getting back to his very best. That's just what we need next to JB.
Hoilett was shocking for us last season so the fact that QPR fans have welcomed him back this time round is testament to us IMO. We should not put up with a slide back into mediocrity quietly.
totally agree & you know I've said it all along... Now just give it some time and ill teach you about this game !!
Phillips is becoming more useful, did some good stuff today and provided an assist. Another great performance from Ali until what could well effectively be a career ending injury...
QPR FC ‏@OfficialQPR 36m Redknapp on @alefaurlin: "It doesn't look good. It's his left knee. Everyone's keeping everything crossed that it's not as bad as we fear." IanJTaylor ‏@IJTaylor81 13m For all those asking, @alefaurlin will be sent for a scan on Monday. Only then will we know the extent of his knee injury. #QPR http://www.kilburntimes.co.uk/qpr/qpr_manager_fears_worst_as_injured_faurlin_set_for_scan_1_2961014
I'm not sure, but i'm sure I heard harry/someone specifically say "it's the left one.." about his injury this time. The ominous stress on "the left" makes me think that might've been the reconstructed one
