There was a poll on the old 606 for Spurs' fans player of the year and Ekotto was leading for awhile and I believe finished 2nd. He'd definitely be my second choice, he was very consistent and defended his flank well. He reads the play very well and can be crucial in turning defence into attack because he doesn't dive in, he knicks the ball away when he can and keeps possesion. Kaboul earned himself a France call up last weekend after his impressive season for us. Kaboul is very strong and comfortable on the ball, he puts in pretty decent crosses when he's right back too. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I must say I'm surprised that you'd want to see the back of those too.
Completely forgot about Kaboul forget what i said about evans with ekottu rose as left backs king dawson gallas and kaboul as centre backs and corluka and walker as right backs over naugton in my opinion we have a very strong defence hopefully Harry has the same opinion as myself and will now just concentrate on the need for a top qaulity striker!
Ekotto has done a great job for Spurs this last season and I would make him close to player of the year. I do not believe you have watched that much to come to that conclusion.
Im my opinion, Ekotto is a liability in posession and far too hasty into the tackle. Kaboul is similar, only much worse, and gets far too high up the pitch and fails to get back. Both are guilty of squandering possession through keeping it too long when they should be offloading it. Maybe you are talking about the Benny from 2/3 yrs ago. He is a solid left back and was pipped to the player of the year late into the season. He has been a very reliable defender for us this season, which makes me wander how much of the mighty SPURS you have watched. I honestly believe he is only going to get better this season as well.
He is the weakest player in the side for me (when Gomes is having a good day ). Maybe I just missed all the good bits, but he fills me with dread.
Harry Redknapp has said Danny Rose will only be a top player if he stays at left back and expects it to be close between him and BAE for the LB position next season. Wasn't there another article called What i would like to see but will NEVER happen part 2? Where has that gone?
He's certainly taken great delight at laying into other Spurs fans and as you say his opinions on Ekotto are a few seasons old.
Oh come on, give it a rest. My opinion on BAE is bang up to date, and one shared by others. I did not lay into Spurs fans, I layed into all fans. Sheesh.
I am not saying BAE is not without his strengths, or has not improved. But, while (as at January) he had made more interceptions in the EPL than any other player,he also gave up possession more than any other player in the CL this season. What's the point in that? Win the ball....... aaaand give it back.
Perhaps I was a bit hasty with my suspicions. It's always going to look a little strange if someone suddenly starts posting a lot with contraversial opinions. Most of us have been skiving off work posting on 606 for years! Oh and easy on the stats or we'll definitely think you're an Arsenal WUM
