GUS Poyet has revealed there has been âa 100 per centâ turnaround in the mood and attitude on Sunderlandâs training pitch this week in the wake of the inspiring derby win over Newcastle United. The Black Cats recorded their first Premier League victory of the season in beating the Magpies at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. And the thrilling nature of the triumph â a fabulous late strike from Fabio Borini after Steven Fletcherâs early opener had been cancelled out early in the second half â further enhanced the feelgood factor around the Academy of Light. Asked about training this week, Poyet said: âIt has been great â from last week to this, it has been completely the opposite: 100 per cent. âThey have been on a high all week and that has been great but, by the end of Wednesday, they had come down a bit, Thursday is about being calm and composed and we turn our mind on Hull then for Friday. âAfter that, the derby is gone â it has been nice to enjoy it â but we know we have another job to do and this is now the most important one because it is the next one. âBut it has been great to have the mood and the attitude we have had in training. âThe big thing is we have won a game now â so you hope it should be easier from now on. âThis team now knows it can win a Premier League game and that it can win after conceding an equaliser. âAnd to win the Newcastle game, of course, gives a much bigger boost because it is not just any win, it is a very special win.â And as for on-loan Liverpool striker Borini, Poyet said: âHe has been looking at me out of the side of his face and laughing. âAnd I have been saying, âyeah, yeah, youâve made trouble for me nowâ â because obviously he has made a good case for himself with his goal. âBut it has been great to have banter like that and he has been so positive. âSometimes, you know, people like that deserve all the credit they get â I mean just look at his reaction after he scored. âHe has been here only a short while, but you canât tell me that he didnât know exactly how much that goal meant â it was a special moment in his career.â
Let's hope their heads are not buzzing with a hangover from over celebrating...The next game is all that counts now, and a win would put us right back in touch with the pack..
it's great to read something really positive...............................now let's put brucies bait up on saturday
