Morning Troops, Leeds United are giving a trial to former Aston Villa youngster Richard Bryan. Bryan, who was released by Villa in the summer of 2012, is currently with non-league side Hinckley United. He joined Hinckley following his release by Villa but he was then released by Hinckley after just three months at the club. Hinckley re-signed the former Republic of Ireland youth international this August and he has made six first team appearances so far this season. The 19-year-old central defender, who came through the youth system at Villa Park, played for the Leeds development squad in their game at Barnsley yesterday evening McDermott says a number of Premier League clubs including Norwich City have been looking at Alex Mowatt. McDermott was on The Footballers Football Show on Sky on Monday night, where Ewan Chester joined him. Chester is the director of football recruitment for Norwich City and the Leeds boss revealed that he had been at Elland Road recently to watch one of Leeds up and coming stars. McDermott did not name names but hinted that the player being watched was young midfielder Alex Mowatt. McDermott said Norwich as well as a number of other Premier League clubs had him on their radar. The Leeds United’s Supporters Trust has submitted an official complaint to police over claims travelling fans were close to being crushed at a railway station. Fans say they were “kettled” as British Transport Police (BTP) marshalled hundreds of Whites supporters at a London Tube stop following the game against Millwall last month. The trust, which says Leeds fans are subjected to unduly heavy-handed policing compared with followers of other clubs, is calling for BTP to learn lessons from the incident. Chairman Gary Cooper said: “The complaint is about the kettling after the game and the behaviour of the police at the Tube station, using dogs and sticks. “You might want to control and contain a crowd but you have to do that in an area that’s proportionate to that crowd. That simply didn’t happen. “They tried to contain the fans in an area that wasn’t sufficient to hold them. “That’s when kids start panicking. “There were people having to put kids on shoulders because they were literally being crushed together. The trust says problems started as fans arrived at London Bridge station following United’s 2-0 defeat to Millwall.
Morning Elland and all. I'm tempted to say something never change. We look at nobody's while Norwich sign our best. But I'm not going to say that because I know we've turned a corner and gfh will not run the club that way. Just watching some of the after match carling cup interviews this morning and sad to see how far down the pecking order the cups have dropped. As a young lad growing up, fa cup was equally important as winning league. Not an more though, these cups are little more than a nuisance for clubs and fans. Maybe a CL qualifying spot should be given to FA Cup winners instead of fourth spot in league

Apart from the FA cup, the others mean very little. I'd only start to get excited in the FA Cup after the 5th round.
Morning Eland, morning all. The League cup is a very good competition to win, and one that clubs outside of the top 6 in the PL really have a chance in. For us, its a potential route into Europe, as is the case for others outside of the top 6. Don't disss the milk cup I say. No surprise that clubs, particularly Norwich, are looking at Mowatt. However, were Mowatt interested in a move to Carrow Road, he should see what's happened to Becchio and others that have moved. Only Snoddy seems to be more or less guaranteed a start. Good though he clearly is and he will only get better, how certain might Mowatt be of regular footy at Norwich? More to the point, where will they be next season, PL or Championship? From our point of view, what would we take as an offer we couldn't refuse, £5m? £8m? I doubt the club would even entertain a bid from Norwich, especialy after the way they treated us vis a vis Becchio.
Morning all I'd like to think Mowatt has more reasons to stay at Leeds than a few who made the migration to Norwich. Different manager, no Bates, Norwich struggling, and like Boggers said, a look at Becchio would be a warning. Snoddy apparently got clattered and knocked out in their game with our friends over the Pennines last night. Was stretchered off and on oxygen, so hopefully he's ok.

In all seriousness, hope Snoddy is okay. No one likes to see players leaving the field with oxygen masks on. Serious sh&t, and even those who left us for teams as "big" as Norwich don't deserve that.
Meant to say - another CB getting a trial. Can we only find CBs? Glad LUST have put in that complaint too. It's part of what they do & RSCs don't. It's part of their 'raison d'etre'. They've been very involved with the authorities re. the way our fans are treated. Kudos to them. Mowat? Love him, but if we get silly money, take it! BM can build a team in exchange for 1 player. Like it or not, we're still a selling team. To hold on to everyone would stunt our growth at this time of tight boardroom money.
Elland you may be correct about Norwich but they own their own ground, are not in debt, the chairman backed the manager to get them promoted and they get around 27k fans at each home game. This means they are a bigger club than us NOW and have been ever since they came up with us into the championship. They went straight up again where we didn't! Sorry folks but we have fallen so far behind many small village clubs that it will take us ages to catch up again and even longer to get back to where we were. The longer we spend floundering down in the depths of this league and worrying about teams like Yeovil, Huddersfield and Milwall etc, the more laughable it becomes. We've been raped and had our club stolen and nobody wants to get it back. I agree with Eire about Mowatt would have been sold under the previous regime. Byram would have gone last January along with Dawson too. I'm finding it hard to carry on trusting the skint arabs who own us for now.
Define silly money Jock in terms of Mowatt. £5m? £8m? Remember that he will have a sell on value if anyone did buy him.
Surely, if he was sold this season, he's not going to command anything like that kind of money. He's not proven yet as he's so young. If we could get another two seasons out of him, then we might be able to talk in the 5 to 8 million bracket. We really do need to be getting at least a couple of seasons out of the Byrams and Mowatts before flogging them. Otherwise it'll be next to impossible to assemble a side for a proper promotion push
Eire, I was working on the principal of what we would demand from Norwich if they were pesistent about wanting him in this TW. Personally I would hope that GFH have grown a pair and would be able to tell Norwich to go forth and multiply. I would also hope that we will be in the PL either this season (unlikely but you never know) or next season. We can then ward off interest for all of our players unless we get really silly money offers.
Guys go back a few seasons to our L1 team. Young Fab Delph was wanted by Newcastle and they offered £8m for him after only a season and half in L1 (Remember the goal against Southend) So the barcodes offered £8m but Bates sold him to Villa and if Bates knew he had £8m on the table he wouldn't let Delph go to Villa for less. So Delph commanded £8m back then so I guess that as Mowatt has just signed a new contract, and is probably as good as Delph was then ....... No point in doing a fire sale as Bates did for some of our kids. I suspect that Byram is worth £10m on that basis unless his hip problem impacts the value. Bates sold Gradel for around £2m and Howson for around £1m then lost the rest on frees. He even made a loss on Becchio ffs
No offence guys and I like mowatt, but Delph was on a different planet Nobody going to pay more than two million at this moment in time. Mowatt and Byram are good prospects, who might eventually do well in the prem. Delph was ALWAYS going to do well, sadly a bad injury slowed him down. Way he's playing he, could end up at World Cup
