I bought the mrs an 05 plate c max earlier this year. Can't fault it, think it's a brilliant car. With the seats in place there's loads of boot space, flip them forward and there's even more or take each seat out and it's like a van.

We looked at scenics too, but far preferred the ford. Gets my vote

  2. Yeah, I've kind of forgotten about the Scenic now. Got about four C-max's to look at tomorrow, all around the £2.5k to £3.5k / 2004-2006 mark <ok>

We paid 2.6k for ours, it is an 05 1.8 petrol Zetec. Had 77k on the clock. Got it from a Ford main dealer too. I would maybe have preferred a diesel, but can't complain really

We used it to tow our caravan round northern France and I was still getting about 30mpg, so not bad really.

Good luck with the test drives, hope you land one you like.

ah yes. quality response there RHC. bit of latin and all from our proof of theorems and all that..

    nice.

anyway... having seen the mileage on the renault I voted ford. I am of the opinion you can at least do the maintenance yourself on a fold or what I have but renaults are designed to force you to the dealer IMO.

econo desiel is somewhat the way to go but i am still of the opinion that toyota avensis with narrow fit child seats is a better all round solution but you do need to trade it in and get another if the cat is going.
