Forster has experience in the Champions league and plays for technically a 'bigger club', that is the harsh reality of it. IMO Forster and Ruddy are very similar so its a tough call.
Just a rumour but I thought I would post it anyway: http://www.scotsman.com/sport/footb...-fraser-forster-dave-king-world-cup-1-3162601
Perfectly happy with that, surely it's what friendlies are for, to try new players, systems, tactics etc?
Exactly. Hodgson has been wasteful in this respect before. If Hart continues his poor run of form or gets an injury someone is going to need to step in and you would want them to have at least a few appearances for England before chucking them into a competitive match.
The point is though, why him over Ruddy?, not to be disrespectful of the SPL but it's not on the same level is it?. I'd say it's down to Ruddy's ropey performance against Chelsea.
Well, Forster hasn't been capped yet so it makes sense so that he can gather some international experience. Also, perhaps Forster is in a better run of form at the moment? I don't follow Scottish football so this is purely a speculative remark.
I think, more to the point is Ruddy put in an impressive half against Italy so Roy already knows his worth, this is an ideal opportunity to see how Fraser holds up on the big stage where errors won't matter!
i don't think there is a lot between ruddy and forster. personally i prefer ruddy because i think he is the slightly more rounded keeper but we need both to start playing in friendlies or how will we ever know if they are good enough?
That's disappointing - as Hodgson considers him 'Ideal' for the goalkeeping role, I would have expected a picture of a tin of pre-war evaporated milk
