    Good Morning Everyone,

Looks like we are now done in the transfer market.

Have to say Smith now looks promising, though having reservations about Murphy. Thoughts?

How do we reckon McDermott has performed in the transfer market?

Morning Elland and all. Given the peanuts available, McD has done ok. I read a comment from him last night but can't find the link. It appears we have NO scouts at Leeds but he's planning to rectify this. Surely this is bordering on unbelievable for a big championship club. Is it any wonder we can't find any gems in Ireland, Scotland or the continent anymore. It certainly explains why so much ****e has been signed in recent years. I suspected we mightn't have many but none at all?

    Moaning ..... again

Elland I think Murphy looked like a steal when he arrived, I suspect he will turn out to be good, but right now he's gone backwards and maybe the expectation has shown him wanting. As we know, not everyone can play in front of our fans and the club can be just too big for them. I'm hoping its because he's young and does what all kids do which is fits and starts.

Smith is a good buy, but he's not as gifted as BMD told us, which was quick thinking, great with both feet and in the air. Well he allows us to play in a particular wany no doubt, as he's big and gets his head on most things and allows another striker to feed of him. Good squad addition.

    Wootton - good buy.

Hunt - jury still out but not promising.

Blackstock - jury out but a good start.

Marius - great addition if it happens

Tough work for the manager trying to bring players in, as he's had no cash and a limityed budget due to already having players who need to be sold but are not worth what we paid or are on too much money. Will he dive back into the market in January? he'll have to move a few more out first I'm afraid and by then our season could be over.

Morning all. Happy with BMD's activity in the TW. Agree completely with Doc. Hunt needs game time in the development squad, as he's unlikely to feature for the first team/bench for the foreseeable. We also need to use the long ball up to Smith a bit more sparingly, as teams will work us out. Build through the midfield and then cross one into the box for Smith to either score or lay off for others. On Murphy, one doesn't lay out £1m on rubbish. So yes he screwed up last weekend, but he'll be stronger for it in the long run.

On Marius, if it happens I'll reserve judgement. The SPL particularly without Rangers to add a bit of competition is very low standard. The top 6 in the Championship would all be vying for a league title in Scotland. But as an international, even for Lithuania, he has to have come up against some decent teams. So maybe it'll work. If, as I think we will, we continue to play 3CBs and 2 Wingback, we need competition. Someone suggested Peltier as an option given that he's unlikely to play RB/RWB anytime soon. Just a thought.

Unbelievable about the scouting network, but this was mentioned a few times last season. All Bates had was Gwyn Williams Bates's loo brush because they cut costs all over the place. Bates loved telling us all that we had links all over Scandinavia and Eastern Europe ..... bollocks he got rid of everyone and so we have a huge club like ours with no scouting options and the academy which was decimated. BMD has almost sorted the academy and done a great job there and now looking at improving our scouting network. Bates was a criminal and took our money and laughed at us.

Morning all ... signing Dexter and Marius good moves, adds experience and better quality ... Murphy will come good, very talented, just needs to play in a settled team ... McD is slowly fixing the club, having started with the Academy and promoting Mowatt ... Bates took everything he could from the club, at least he won't have many years to spend it all ... we are pointing in the right direction now, will improve a lot more once the below average bunch's contracts run out.

Found the quote from McD about scouts and its from the FFS.LUFC don't currently have a scouting system and he is working on a new one with a new chief scout. Any wonder we couldn't find quality, they must have been using Youtube. We have clubs in the part time League of Ireland here better run. Surely scouts should be one aspect of a club that actually pay for themselves by unearthing good young talent. A great example I believe is Celtic. Excellent scouting system and Lennon manages each season to bring in two or three on small money while shifting a couple at huge profits. Usually recruited from less fashionable European countries

Eire knowing that BMD's background is that of scouting/coaching talent I'm sure it will be fairly easy for him to start things off. He will have contacts all over the place at home and abroad, and only needs to make things official and agree terms with the scouting network. For example scouts get paid a small retainer and get a fee for anyone who they find that gets taken on contract. No fee no find ....

I'll let you into a secret about scouting networks. I have a good mate who was a top player and on the books at Shef Utd and played with Tony Curry and good mates with him and plenty more etc. Although he had played for most of the south Yorks clubs, his real home was the blunts. he was injured and forced to hang his boots up but still got involved with the club in coaching sessions, academy stuff and scouting. He found some decent players for the blunts over a long time, and when Warnock came in he was dumped along with many of the backroom staff. Warnock killed a lot of stuff that was bearing fruit and yes he got them promotion to the prem but was really killed the club. My mate has still never got back involved with the blunts because of how he was treated, and remember a lot of the stuff he did was for no payment, he just loved the club.

Graham Carr is massive mates with BMD?

Interesting stuff Doc. Im very hopeful, given time, and that may also depend on results, McD will rectify our lousy scouting system. Just another reason I suppose why we have been dropping down the pecking order

Liw, I think I agree with you there. Mowatt seems the far better player but I am hoping Murphy will come good, can't really see he adds much at the minute and thats been in every game I have seen him so far.

But then I also think Mowatt has been exceptional so far

I stick by what Ive said a few times this season.

Murphy is like tonge but not as good.

Tonge has played well when he has started IMO

Dawson needs to go out on loan so we can see him in action against proper players not just kids. He's my mate but strength isn't his strong point

    Kissa

That's what I've said all season

    He's a poor man's tonge

Only reason murphy playing is because we spent a million

And Southern was because we were linked to him

Obviously didn't get to see that game but sounds like most of the team were poor. That'd be Mowatt's first poor game though if he did play badly

One thing we all need to be aware of when talking about kids: From time to time their form drops off because you can't expect them to come out of playing academy stuff into tough, fast, pressurised activity against better and bigger/stronger players week in week out. You kill them by doing this as they need resting as well before burnout kicks in. So Mowatt was due a bad one and after we all liked Murphy at the start, maybe he's dropped off and needs a rest. Are we being unfair on the kid because it seems a lot of clubs were chasing his services, hence £1m fee. We got him so give him chance instead of shooting him. Are we playing him in his best position?
