I had a debate with a chap last night about the breaking point of fans with respect to how they are treated by their club and he was adamant, as an Everton fan he would have 'stayed away' by now if the events at our club happened to Everton.
It got me thinking... can you ever contemplate boycotting matches at SJP?
I honestly can't as I will always go to the games.
Can you ever envisage you getting to the point of walking away? What would be youre tipping point?

Could never walk away. Been through so much following the team for 40 years that it would be just my luck the success would come when I'd finally given up hope.

Not going to games isn't exactly "giving up", is it? I mean, as a Newcastle fan, the bad smell of disappointment follows you round the globe, never mind when you leave the turnstiles...

My breaking point started at the beginning of last season with the lack of invest confirming we were screwed.
The liverpool game and the derby defeat last season was the final straw and no going back.

Pardew - could win the league and I would still want him sacked, I am a proud man and he has embarrassed my club OUR club and I can never forgive him.

I will not spend a penny that goes to Ashley.

Boycott games as all we do is bitch about things but then on the other hand we just say never mind here's my wages fat mike enjoy.

People say never walk away but not going to games is not walking away newcastle united is in my blood and always will be, however short term gain is better then short term.

I also have a lot of friends who are Mackems so I've had a hard couple of days.

Forgive me for being daft, but what is this hideous burden under which we should be breaking ?

The broad outlines of the club policy I agree with.

The club should live within in its means.

This includes paying its debts, including those to Ashley when it has the money.

Keeping an eye out for a bargain and being open to the idea of selling at a significant profit is sensible if the club is going to live within its means.

Stability is important. Manager turnover tends to destabilise.

There are plenty of details to disagree about. Was buying no one over the summer a good idea or should we have stretched a bit for the striker and defender we seem to so clearly need (and whose lack was so evident on Sunday) ? Is our current manager the correct one ? Does the management need to be quite so tacky or quite so distant ? Why Joe Kinnear ?

Getting the details right is important. I can get quite worked up about some of these details when the mood strikes me. But they remain details of how we carry out a policy which I generally support.

I will always supprt Newcastle. In regards to 'breaking point' in the case of Pardews tenure it would be to lose the next three games, which are all very possible and then fail to pick up maximum points against West Brom and Norwich because we will need to. Then I think he will be sacked.

So, there is still someone who believes the idiotic financial policy propaganda... He is giving JOE KINNEAR a wage. That undermines any prudent "FFP strategy". Mike's making money and taking the piss.

Now I just need to wait for the mention of the term "carbon neutral", because yep, I'd rather we spent millions on Mike's garden getting a few trees, than an actual player to bolster an understaffed squad... I mean, what are we, a football club or something?!

Let's face it, the trees would last longer than the player, looks like a pretty good investment.

As much as I love this club, it's getting to the point whereby I am close to boycotting cup matches as a sign of how disgruntle I am with the way Mike Ashley and Co treat the club and it's supporters.

What in particular do you disagree with ?

As for "making money and taking the piss", on the published figures (all of which are audited and available on Companies House if you want to look), Ashley has:

    a. provided a £120 million loan;

    b. not charged interest (abut £6 million per year)

    c. got free advertising

    d. as of the last reporting period, been repaid £11 million.

Dislike the man all you like but the idea that he is milking cash out of the club is one which is unsupported by evidence. I don't know how much you'd pay for the Sports Direct billboards at SJP but I doubt that it would come close to the forgone interest.

You can of course subscribe to the theory that huge amounts are going to MA in some way no one has discovered.

You can also subscribe to the (perfectly respectable) view that owners should be sugar daddies.

if you don't go for either of those options, then I think we are back to arguing about details.

[Why he chooses to give money to Kinnear is as much a mystery to me as to anyone else but the amount of his salary is financially insignificant.]

    December 2010.

Not been back to SJP since the sacking of Chris Hughton.

I won't be going back while Mike Ashley is still the owner.

Cutting off my nose to spite my face? No.

I simply refuse to give anymore of my money to a regime that has absolutely NO ambition to better the club.

The Board have released statements confirming their lack of ambition, yet people still don't catch on.

The protest before the Liverpool game was a good start - more of that is needed to get the message across - although the number involved was rather low.
