Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial 40s Subs today: Lamela, Naughton, Defoe, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Friedel #THFC
I'm happy with the team. Would have preferred Eriksen to Lennon, but no quibbles with AVB - he's done well there. Pleased Naughton is fit so we have one defender on the bench, I think we'll need him v Hull on Wednesday, just hope we don't need him today. I expect us to win.
Is that Lennon starting? Surely not! Also good that Holtby gets back to back games, Avb must be reading my posts
No surprises, the team that worked last time. Good. I have a theory, which will be tested today, that we go off the rails when AVB juggles the lineup for no good reason. The nice thing about this approach is that it's hard to argue with not changing a winning game. If we're poor today, it will also be hard to argue with shaking things up.
"Looks that way, with width" My rationale is that you get the obvious flank attack. And if things get a bit overrun for Holtby, the 2 can push up as necessary to make it more 4-5-1.
Big game for Holtby as he's been talked up alot based on his form in cups but this is where he needs to bring his best game and keep his place.
"Will he ever return?" Two issues. The knee injury, which was limiting him to a game a week. But also the muscle damage caused by his all advised burst in the U21 game last season.
"Big game for Holtby as he's been talked up alot based on his form" Well Eriksen seems to be paying the price for the Spanners game. But if the formation works ok (which is more important to me today given we need to be on the front foot for nearly all our home opponents) , then Eriksen and Holtby on paper would be interchangeable.
Lennon & Townsend! That's exciting and could address the complaints we all have about a more progressive and proactive team. Progressive and proactive! Sounds good, make that exciting
I'm hoping for a decent game to watch for a change. Open, fast footy played the Spurs way, not this slow, predictable boring brand that we have been subjected to in the AvB era.
