Lawro predicting a win for us is the kiss of death, but it doesn't surprise me. I think Lawro's predictions are based as much on history (that Fulham is a well-run team) as on transient variables like form. So I welcome Lawro's Fredo kiss and hope he's right. Two wins on the trot would do wonders for the player's confidence.
Absolutely right DR. After the torrid run we've been on, I think we'd all be over the moon with 6 points from two tricky ties; Stoke at home and Palace away. Unfortunately a win at Palace is the final leg in my accumulator...so that's given it the 2nd kiss if death (the 1st being Lawro's prediction). Or does one curse cancel out the other? I guess we'll see....
That's a double hex on us Bobby. So, to break it and since it's a Friday - 13 years ago to the day we beat Palace 3-1 (which is 13 backwards of course). And that was our 11th straight win that season which with 2 this year also adds up to 13. Lucky for some, or what? Here's a video clip of that epic win all those years ago - COYW
I hope we're right C58. All my accumulator selections have come in this week....both relying on a Whites win on Monday. COYW!
Bobby, it is a double negative/positive curse which means the latter prediction will be correct. IMO.
A paucity of comment this week (maybe he hasn't seen Kasami's goal yet) but a hint of praise nonetheless. "Fulham boss Martin Jol was on the verge of getting booted out a couple of weeks ago - now he is a contender for manager of the month. The Cottagers have won their last two games and I think they will get another positive result against Southampton. After the start that the Saints have made, their supporters are probably convinced they are definitely going to finish in the top half of the table. The Premier League is not quite as easy as that, though. After surprising a few teams in the last couple of months, I think Manuel Pochettino's side might get a bit of a shock themselves." Lawro's prediction: 1-1
I hope Lawro's right on this one. If the boys can put in a good performance, even if it doesn't show on the points column, it could be a sign that the team's regainings it's form. On the other hand they have another dreadful game like the one against Stoke, then clearly the problems persist.
I've not seen to much of Southampton but if, as it appears, they are a decent team then I think we'll struggle. The problem with our individual style is that any half decent team will beat us. We've got enough quality to see of the weaker teams who don't have a system- but someone like Swansea will find us easy pickings.
Looks as if the Saints fans are on the same page as you, Silky. Hopefully the team can prove you all wrong.
In 6 games we've won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1. Southampton won 4 and drawn 2. Admittedly Southampton beat the Liverpool and Swansea in that time and we beat Palace and Stoke. But you know what I don't care. The boys are gathering momentum, they're becoming a much more close knit and settled team. Confidence is improving too. COYW - I'd love 3 points! How many are going down for the Match? Captain, you going, it's up the road from you isn't it?
Yeah, I'm going Craving, along with my two boys. It's the youngest's first away game (although it's a lot closer than the home games he's already been to) and it's two days before my eldest's birthday. Hopefully we'll all have something to celebrate.
Lovely grey, rainy day here. I'd love 3 wins on the run but have no realistic expectations. Take a draw. C'mon Fulham!
This week's LWB....Mostly about them, not us. But that's not exactly surprising.... "This is a big game for both bosses - Fulham's Martin Jol and Manchester United's David Moyes. I was at Old Trafford last weekend to see Manchester United's late fightback to beat Stoke and, until Wayne Rooney equalised for them in the 78th minute, United were in big trouble. What was interesting was the part the United supporters played in getting their team going. United had been playing without any real urgency and it was really interesting to see how their fans let them know what they thought about that. They booed loudly when Nani went off after 58 minutes - as in, they booed him. I was sat there thinking "whoa, where did that come from?" but that was the crowd showing their frustration. They kept on doing it in the final half-hour, literally screaming at United's players every time the ball went out of play because they felt the team were just sitting back, and they were not having it. People say Old Trafford can be quiet but I think United's supporters were instrumental in turning the tide in that game, and then the last few minutes we saw the old Manchester United. Part of United's problem is that I don't feel they make the pitch feel as wide as they used to. This United team do not stretch opponents in the way their predecessors did. The fans are not going to solve that, but they can still lift the players. The Cottagers were well beaten by Southampton in their last league game, when they did the footballing equivalent of rolling over and have their tummies tickled. Taking nothing away from Southampton, who are a very good team, it was just too easy. I am a Jol fan but I look at the balance of the Fulham team and they are too easy to play against. Lawro's prediction: 0-2" Anyhow, to heck with that. Glass-half-full, so we scrape a 1-0 win. After all, my man Zolly once ruined their day at The Cottage. Heart over Head - C O Y W
I would take a 2-0 loss, that would be a decent result, only letting in 2 goals, after letting in 4 against Leicester, I am expecting a 6-0 loss to liverpool
Can never understand how a fan can say they would take a loss before a game? It's fairly acceptable to expect a loss, as I do in this case but I'd never take a loss before a game. United have been poor too, they're only 4 points above us and there's a lot more pressure on Moyes than there is on Jol. A draw or a win are not beyond the realms of possibility. My head says 0-2 but my heart says 2-2.
I would go for any sort of win. Unfortunately I don't think we will win or even get a draw unless something changes. We are not a fortress any more. A short margin loss and a Jol on his way will be the outcome and do for me. Unless he has learnt something and the lazy sods do something...
Its not all doom and gloom. We can match Man U player for player. Oh sorry, my mistake that was the U21's I was thinking about.
