Just a quick update to say Darley are now on board, so we will also be visiting Dalham Hall that day. Thanks for the PMs, I'll get back to you all shortly, nice I've a better idea of timings.
Are there any more takers for this visit? At the moment we look as if we only have about 12 takers, which is a shame as Juddmonte have said they are happy with up to 40! I don't want to over sell it, but it really is the chance of a lifetime, I don't think I'll be able to organise anything like this again, and certainly not for a long time with my baby due in March! If you are interested please PM me your email address so I can include you in all correspondence, I've sent a few of you PM's this evening to ask if you still want to come as I've not heard from you and will be emailing people in the next day or two. As it stands, the basics so far are: Friday 15th November 11.30am - visit to Dalham Hall Stud to see stallions and have a short tour 12.30pm - Tea/Coffee break at Dalham Hall 1.00pm - tbc 2.30pm - visit to Banstead Manor to see the stallions, including Frankel Don't miss the opportunity!
If I can make it that is a good start time as it would allow me to get the overnight ferry and drive up from Portsmouth and then return on the next overnight ferry.
Looking at the map, your journey from Portsmouth to Newmarket is M275, A27, A3, M25 (clockwise = 58mi; anticlockwise = 59mi + Dartford Crossing), M11, A11 and A14. That is a total of 159/160 miles. Given the roads involved and the time of day, that is probably 3.5 hours. Are you crossing from Ouistreham (Caen) or St Malo to Portsmouth? They are both overnight sailings with Brittany Ferries (no winter service from Cherbourg). DFDS sail from Le Havre but it is an evening arrival. Better fill the petrol tank before you set off as it will be a lot more expensive going back!
Thanks QM. I usually go M27, M3. Haven't been the route you mention. I presume it's shorter. Not sure I can go yet. The chances are I won't be able to make it but I'm keeping my options open as long as I can. We always fill up before we go to England (High Wycombe or Wellingborough); as you say much cheaper here.
Still room Wayward, please PM me your email address so I can keep you up to date on plans. Same goes for anyone else who is interested in coming.
Thanks for your responses Princess - very much appreciated and looking forward to seeing people on the 15th If anyone's travelling up from London (I'm oin the North west) we should have a couple of spaces in the car so PM me and we'll see what we can do.
I've only had 1 reply to the email I sent out over the weekend about the trip! Please folks if you want to come can you reply ASAP as I don't want to have to cancel due to lack of interest. If you haven't received the email please PM me with your email address.

Sorry Princess. Have been away for 8 days (with no computer nor internet, apart from 5 mins for a quick post and PM) and haven't had a chance to check my emails yet. Looks like I'll be away again towards the end of the month which makes it virtually impossible to join the visit. ***************!!!

No problem, just PM me your email address and I'll copy you in on the confirmation emails. We have 4/5 spaces left as we currently stand.

4 days to go before the Newmarket outing As I found cheaper transport, I am designated driver for the day. I suppose I had better make sure it still runs!
