Let's get the ball rolling chaps. Lots of great racing tomorrow. I know Gollings has targeted the Old Roan but I don't think he'll win it. I think Wishful Thinking takes it. Century for the Racing Post Trophy 4/1 What do we all think fine fellows.
Stratford 5.05 - Doctor Harper (tissue 3-1) David Pipe had this one entered in the 5.20 at Aintee as well bu he sends him here for the "easier" race at Stratford, mainly to keep him away from Regal Encore. He has come on nicely over the summer and jumps well enough for a novice, he is expected to go well this season after some very good efforts in bumpers last season. All being well, tomorrow he should be up to winning this. Though Purple Bay is a danger and the Henderson runner is interesting. Good Luck
One tip from me in the Persian War Novices Hurdle (G2) at Chepstow 3.35. Caesar Milan 9/4. Mr Nicholls has won 4 of the last 6 of this race so this should be odds on based on that stat! Winning point to pointer, won a couple of bumpers for Northern Irish trainer Ian Ferguson. Pitched in at the deep end by Mr Nicholls on debut I'm hoping this lands a fairly big bet for me!
Hi chaps, am good thank you. Just starting to get my head back into the national hunt game now. On course at Chepstow tomorrow so if I get chance I will post anything I here at the track (if anything). Have a good evening chaps.
Assuming the ground is soft at Doncaster tomorrow i'm prepared to give Jamaican Bolt one last chance at 15/2 in the 15:15. Connections have waited all season for soft ground then had to run on gd/soft then good. Was quite eye catching in the first one but looked in need of the race. Second race on good ground can be discounted. Gone well at Donny before so track should hold no problems. Gets in on a feather weight, so hopefully with a bit of luck in running i can finally collect on this horse!
2.55 Stratford MAGNIFIQUE ETOILE 9-2 was meant to take up an engagement at Fakenham today but my understanding is that they have waited a day to enable him to have the services of Noel Fehily who was banned today. He was a very good novice two seasons ago but has been out of action since picking up an injury. His handler thinks the world of this boy and believes that there is so much more to come. Whilst he has been out of action the handicapper has kindly given him a drop in the weights. I have to say that this horse above all others that have won in recent weeks is the one that Charlie seemed most the most enthused about. Despite a near 600 day absence he will be finely tuned for his comeback! I am disappointed that he isn't a bigger price but at the same time I believe he will go off a fair bit shorter! I am not surprised that Doctor Harper is ducking a match with REGAL ENCORE as this ones credentials are obvious.
Good luck Hawkeye - yet another Northern handicap sprint waiting for the horse with the least chance of winning to pop up as it's "his turn"! I'm on Medicean Man in this as he finally gets a good draw and at 18-1 looks a lively ew The Old Roan is another interesting race and I prefer the chances of Walkon to the spelling mistake, who I feel needs more of a slog. I am taking on AOB's trio with Godolphin's Pinzolo who I feel will have come on a lot from his last run. Back at Aintree, I like the look of the Reveley's Special Catch, who clearly goes well fresh and seems to like the course - 8-1 PP BOG
National Hunt season just starting to bubble up and that means I'm making my tentative steps back onto the board, hope we are all well chaps! Agree with Bob that Wishfull Thinking should be too good tomorrow, but I'm wary of Walkon, who is notoriously good after a lay off. In regards to the flat, a couple of my extended family are friendly with Kevin Ryan, and some of the people that work with him, and they are quietly confident of a big run tomorrow from The Grey Gatsby, 20/1 is a massive price IMO. All the best
14.30 Aintree- Fruity O'Rooney- 10/3 Has to be one of 2 gary moores superstars- with funny enough the other one who is running over in chepstow too (who also I am tipping up.) Needed the run at fontwell a few weeks ago, has the cheekpieces back on and has Josh taking off 3lbs aswell. Will feel more back at home in this trip and will take all the beating 16.45 Chepstow- Sire De Grugy- 2/1 An interesting contest he has tomorrow with the talented Nicholls runner(who could be in for a very good day at chepstow) looking to front run and force the field to commit and will be hard to pass, but my selection who is in my 5 to follow is really coming to be a top class. And he could make this price look massive with him having too much class for the field, also Jamie chooses to come to chepstow instead of riding Fruity!
its a good spot by Reebs Special Catch is ready, James not on Catogorical , he cant make the weight but hughsy a good replacement, either way this wont place , just out for a spin,
1.40 Wexford Aircraftman - Won p2p in Ireland beating Cogry by 8l. Cogry is now with Twiston-Davies and won on debut in a bumper at Southwell the other day. 1.55 Aintree Deepsand 12/1 - Won a couple as a novice last season and looks open to further progress this year. 2.25 Chepstow Just A Par This one is in my 5 to follow for this year and is bound to go off a short price. So far my only ante post Cheltenham bet on at 25's for the RSA. Last seen finishing 2nd to At Fishers Cross at Aintree in a grade 1 and expecting big things over fences! 3.35 Chepstow Timesremembered 7/1 Going against the Nichols horse with this one. Point winner before finishing 3rd in Fairyhouse bumper. Won first time over hurdles over 2m and step up in trip should suit. Good luck all
Posted earlier in the week that I think Walkon has a superb chance in the Old Roan tomorrow. If you look at some of his chase form it stands up to the highest scrutiny - 2nd in the Paddy Power, 2nd in the old Massey Ferguson Gold Cup and a fine 2nd in the Topham to finish off last season. He goes really well fresh and I'm sure he will be ready for this. He gets valuable weight in this limited handicap from Wishfull Thinking, Oiseau De Nuit and Edgardo Sol and to me looks the best handicapped horse in the race.
Everyone else see about Simonsig(sorry if it has been talked about already) such a shame was looking forward to seeing him in the PP GC meeting! Now with him gone I do like the chances of Captain Conan!
For Non Stop won last years Old Roan Chase by 22 lengths. He marmalised them that day, which makes me think what the heck happened him afterwards?! He didn't win in 4 subsequent attempts.
