Osvaldo played experimentally without Lambert against the PL Champions...he wasn't going to get many chances. He has to be more clinical with the few chances that come his way. Doesn't make him a poor striker...he plays up front for Italy!! I bet he's frustrated with himself, but that doesn't mean that he will throw the baby out with the bathwater. Most players want to play in the EPL...he is now playing in a team doing well with happy fans. Even if he prefers Italy (which is not a crime), I doubt he is angling for a move after 8 games.
Sorry guys, but when we sign players like Osvaldo and Ramirez were gonna have to expect the baggage that goes with it? My advice is to read it force a smile, then go and wipe your arse with it?
That goal midweek was as good a pass as first touch and finish, a thorough look through his youtube compilations reveals a similar trend of brilliant pass suitable finish. Quite clearly he isn't getting great service at the moment and won't get the service he is used to from the current first team. That said he should have done better with his limited chances. He had a better chance conversion (17.6%) last season than Lambert (16%) but his clear cut chance conversion (40.9%) was considerably worse than Lambert's (56.3%). From the 8 games I have seen of him I can see that continuing. In plain terms he's a good finisher but can mess up what's easy. Aaprt from on Saturday, which was it has to be said a ****house performance, I have been really impressed with his workrate, touch and directness. He's also a great header of the ball which we haven't really seen. He can play in the pochettino style but I think we are wasting his talents when we play with such little creativity.
He makes some good runs but the ball never comes to him on time. We haven't been creating many clear chances although he should have done better with the ones he had at the weekend. Defensively we are brilliant all we need to add to be a top side is play more one touch football around the penalty area. We have tended to dwell on the ball a little this season in the last third of the pitch. The system that Pochettino/Bielsa play is based around quick incisive passing when in the final third, this is something we started to do last season (Reading away, Chelsea at home etc). It will come in time and when it does we will really take some stopping. I can't help but feel that it is the lack of a true number '10', I guess this is the role we are all hoping Ramirez can play. If not I hope we return for Ever Banega as the final piece of the jigsaw.
Just read this :- Tottenham's Erik Lamela admits he still needs to adapt to Premier League Tottenham's record signing Erik Lamela admits he needs to adjust to the physicality of the English game quickly. The Argentine switched from Roma in the summer in a deal worth around £30million. Lamela has featured just four times and is yet to start a Premier League match, and the 21-year-old concedes that he needs to 'adapt' as soon as he can. Lamela also admits that he needs to prove himself for the sake of both his Spurs career and and international future. "English football is much more physical while the game is more tactical in Italy," he is quoted by Clarin. "I have been talking a lot with my team-mates and I know that I have to adapt as quickly as possible if I want to ensure my place in the team and at the national team." Spurs fans will probably start getting the Erik wants away stuff soon as well!
I suspect Dani is very frustrated that he has not taken the chances in front of goal that he has had and he looks the type of player who does not give up easily (the opposite to Rameriz?). However, I think the goals will come - I think he is a skillful player with a very sharp footballing brain - the sort of player who wins games for you when its very tight either by a clever lay-off or nabbing the goal himself.
If, and that is a a big if, there is any truth in Juves interest then there is a fair chance it could turn his head. They are a massive club and perceived even bigger by Italians. Would be like Lallana playing for Siena or another mid to low table Serie A side and suddenly Man Utd come calling....what would you do?
Me too. That post was a drunken Monday night haze after seeing him at the b'mouth O2. He was immense.
I very, very much doubt it. Looks happy to me. Another player who is supposed to be having trouble stopping himself from kicking his chin all over the show is Gaston Ramirez. If big laughs and ear to ear grins in training are just his way of hiding the heartache, then he ought to head for Hollywood and acting in films, because he's convinced me that he's happy enough.
It's not like Osvaldo is the most subtle guy in the world. He's insulted his coach both to his face and on twitter, refused to attend team ceremonies, punched out teammates, not reported to training etc. I'm not condoning any of those things. When Osvaldo is not happy, it's a major problem. I'm worried about that. But seeing as how Osvaldo has done none of those things, I think it's safe to assume he's not unhappy here.. or at least not just yet. I also can't see him being that excited about returning to Italy considering how he left his last team. The World Cup is a consideration of course, but if he had issues with playing outside Italy impacting his chances he wouldn't have left in the first place. He's not being left off the first team here, it's just up to him to produce.
I tink body language is generally a pretty good indicator...his has been excellent. He celebrates teamates goals with a genuine passion and works hard. I can't believe there's an ounce of truth to this
Totally agree. Look at all the training photo's and he's having a ball. Good relationship with MP and the fans love him. What is there not to like!
