The second was a case of ball watching. Players creeping in round the back are amateur-hour stuff and should never be allowed EVER! Even so, we should have finished them off by 80 minutes... Formation wasn't a problem, but use of Moses in the hole was pointless. He should have been a floating winger allowed to move each side. He hasn't got the passing range and vision to work in the hole. LA coming into that spot showed far more awareness, even if his decision making was a bit awry on occasion (that should come with experience)...
i agree on ball watching and this is my point. if you are still flogging goals with 5 defenders on... whats the point? take a defender our an put that body in the midfield and replace players not performing. sahko's first real mistake IMO here. cissokhos full debut in effect. DO you drop either? no but they need to get a kick in the backside over it. my opinion though is the formation didn;t help the first goal nor did it help with other shots as the 3 cbs had huge gaps between them. moses was bad, no question. what really vexed me was when he was stuck wide left finally.... he cut inside and ignored the overlap with cissohko on at least 5 occasions. the option i thought we had was to simply drop him and stick in lucas for a lucas henderson midfield and gerrard in front but lucas was not fit, neither was allen it seems. honestly I don't think rodgers would have done it even if all were fit. alberto was ok but its hard to judge was it was 11 v 10 I hate this formation... hate it.
Can't wait to see Coutinho back in action - shame we have wait another week It's no coincidence that once we took Sakho off (Against Newcastle) and brought on another midfielder, we started to dominate. Let's go back to 4-3-3, a front trio of Moses, Suarez and Sturridge with Alberto behind, and 2 of Henderson, Gerrard and Lucas in CM.
Said that a few times. Less defensive responsibilty and closer to goal too. Coutinho will be in that role once fit again. Especially with BR insisting on a SAS front two meaning no wingers.
Head-to-head West Brom lost their first nine Premier League games against Liverpool without scoring, but have won four of the last five encounters. The Baggies have won the previous three league matches - their best run against Liverpool since a sequence of five successive victories between 1936 and 1938. Liverpool The Reds have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five league games (six in all competitions). The only other occasion that Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool have gone this long without a shut-out in the league was during his first six matches in charge (August-September 2012). If only the second halves of Premier League matches counted, the Reds would be second bottom with five points. Daniel Sturridge has scored 13 goals in his last 13 league games. West Bromwich Albion They are unbeaten in five league games - their longest undefeated run under Steve Clarke. The Baggies have drawn their last two league games. The last time they shared the points in three successive league games was in February 2011 (against West Ham, Wolves and then Stoke). With just six goals conceded, Albion have the best defensive record outside the top six. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24591245
I'd almost forgotten this was a football forum. Saturday has snuck up on me this week for some reason, I'm only just getting in the mood for the game.
