Poyet reckons we need 13 wins from our remaining 30 fixtures. That's very nearly a 50% win rate for a team who's win rate this term is 0% after 8. Cant see it myself.
it's 43.3% mate, about what a lot of people have been saying. Still far too early for me to commit to a final points total, a lot of teams aren't looking too clever at the moment. We aren't the only team who can suffer from a lack of confidence, these teams look to be heading into a rut. I'm just taking it one game at a time excuse the cliche.
No Sunderland manager has ever come close to a win rate of 43.3% in the Premiership. MON is the closest with 35.2% including cup games. We do have Keane on 42%, Mick Mack 42.9% and Reidy on 45%. Has to be said though, much of their time was in the championship.
We need 1.3 points per game from now till the end of the season to reach 40 points. So far our "superstars" have managed 0.125 points per game. I blame the fans for not singing....
Hes right. 13 wins gets us 39 points. Add the point we already have and theres the 40 that theys say you need to stay up.... Sh!t its gona be harder than i thought.
Can anybody tell me why we need 40 points? How do you know? Surely around the 40 mark will be absolute worst case scenario? Can you really see most of these: Palace, Cardiff, Norwich, stoke and west ham reaching the 40 point mark? Can you see Fulham picking up 40? Come on lads could you get anymore defeatist? Some of the teams look awful this season. I think the point situation is going to be closer to the 2009–10 Season.
Well well well, another thread another dig, if it's not the supporters it's the manager or simply the club ........ you seem to be enjoying all this, if you don't mind me saying. So Poyet's setting a target to aim for, big deal. What do you want him to say, "That's it we're ****ed, I only came to this **** club 'cos I was bored sitting round the house." It isn't set in stone but don't miss a chance to have a pop whatever you do. We might only need 12 games, or 11, which screws up your percentage, but don't let that stop you and your snidey digs will you. It's people like you and Cest who continually sneer at Sunderland then throw your hands up in incredulous horror when people wonder if you're closet Mags. Excuse me if I'm missing something here but this reminds me of another thread you thought worth posting. This little gem was based on a pathetic attention seeking ITK comment, from a two-bit journalist, based on an unsubstantiated rumour. Heard a little rumour today which is said to be common knowledge within the Football community. Apparently Gus was offered the job before the Liverpool and Man U games. Seems he was very keen to take the job but only after the aforementioned fixtures. Not sure how I feel about this if true. I just don't understand people like you tbh, no offence.
Now, now, smug. We're all a bit pissed off. The fact is that we just need a couple of wins to get back into the pack and we can take it from there. We're only 6 or 7 points away from the bottom teams and once we're in with them it's game on. Forget the crystal ball bollocks for now!
Sid, the likes of Cyprus may as well just continually 'cut & paste' comments like his from the 'Gus' thread ......... "We are so doomed." It would save him finding new ways to have a sly dig.
Remember what Sheffield Utd did a few years back? That's the the balls we need now. If we go down, so be it. But we go down fighting!
Hopefully the manager, and players, will have more than some of the supporters Sid. I can abide calls to give up from Mags, it's their job, but I don't understand Sunderland supporters quitting in October. Fair enough, we have our fears, but ffs we don't have to gleefully claim we're already doomed ............. or is it that some people want to cover themselves from being told they were wrong? It's an easy game to play mate. Say you think we can get it together and stay up and the doom merchants can dig away all season until we do actually go or we're saved. If we're saved they'll say,as always, "No one's more pleased than me to be proved wrong, but don't tell me I was. We're all Sunderland supporters together so let's not spoil the day by arguing." Yet they'll see nothing wrong with reminding you over and over if they're proved to be right. Hypocrites Sid, can't abide hypocrites tbh.
Just what are the lowest points tallies in the prem...not including our 2 tragedies and Derbies failure?
At the minute all we need is 8 points to get us out of the bottom 3' then just enough throughout the season to keep us out. Stop al this 'we're doomed' ****e FFs.
As far as wins go, we need to Draw a few games first !!! I would be happy with a dire 0-0 stalemate on Sunday for starters............... W D L 3 1 0 Win % Pts 13 0 17 39 0 0 43.3 39 12 3 15 36 3 0 40.0 39 11 6 13 33 6 0 36.7 39 10 9 11 30 9 0 33.3 39 9 12 9 27 12 0 30.0 39 8 15 7 24 15 0 26.7 39
We may only need 7 if we win enough games to turn the GD around ........... might not but you can see what I mean. You've more chance of turning a GD around with 30 games to go, than the usual end of season half dozen, having played some of the tougher games with virtually no organised defence. If the teams we need to get above lose heavily, like Palace did against Fulham, that would help anarl.
I get the feeling that some of our "fans" on here must be well henpecked at home, and only use Sunderland AFC to vent their negative frustrations rather than show any positive support..
I'm concentrating on the first win. That's the most important - get that under our belts and work from there. If we get 1 win under our belts - start looking to get up the table and that's the most important thing ATM
Agreed mate. Also there's too many **** teams that will be in and around the relegation zone all season,we're not alone and no need to hit the panic button just yet. Too many Mogadon merchants on here lately.
