Stop being serious & get it mixed, although I only indicated that it was a non toxic mix which I believe it is. Just like a good chilli, safe to eat but will burn your arse on the way out.
It was a 14 year old in Bolivia, but it wasn't a football flare, it was a proper flare and it it was thrown at him and exploded in his face.
can i just say that no hull city fan and at least 90% of the english football league use flares! most of them are smoke bombs which may or may not be harmful, but are not half as bad as flares, just most people recognise the diffrence.
Golly who would have thought Happy Tiger of all people would be vehemently against the use of smoke bombs. Just like he hates everything else good about football and likes everything bad. And providing a load of emotional claims unsupported by any evidence to back it up. Well that's just a shocker.
I think it is accepted the Bolivia lad drew a short straw, as did the football supporter (UK game) watching a game with his son, when some moron let off a maritime distress flare from the opposite stand; it hit him in the chest, he died and I would imagine the guy who fired it for a laugh would still argue it is sensible - or, perhaps, he would tell the man's son, who was sat next to his father, that he wished it had never happened. What do you think? The argument seems to follow just a few threads: 1. How many should be allowed into the stadium? If limited, then how are you going to police that and will you pay for the extra staff needed? 2. Will you be happy with the added time it takes to get into the ground for the searches and confiscation of unsafe pyrotechnics to take place? 3. If they are as good as is claimed (I accept they do help create atmosphere) and the numbers increase significantly and are ignited throughout the game, just how much wasted time will you accept in your match day? 4. Will you be cool with the opposition fans using them as a disruptive tactic when we have built momentum? Of course, we can do the same. 5. How would you feel about these hindering the cause of standing areas? 6. Smoke bombs cause disorientation; if hooliganism returns (it's never too far away) these bombs and flares are designed to cause chaos - the old, the young and the infirm will be the ones at risk; will you be happy with that? 7. There is the possibility that flares and bombs may attract more paying spectators to the match day; then again, it just might drive many supporters away. All all sounds like good fun; then again. . .
All in all a bit dramatic don't you think? Most of those points are just speculation about massive use of them in future. The same people will still be going to matches. There's only a very small handful of people who bring them in now. If you change the rule we aren't suddenly going to get West standers randomly chucking them about. The bit about extra policing is laughable. There's far too many of them insisting that we're terrorists anyway. The way football fans are treated and the attitude towards them is frankly disgusting. The way people just accept this as normal is hugely disappointing.
Yet they don't cause problems in an indoor stadium in Greece. Maybe a lot of our fans are a bit wimpish compared to the Greeks?
No, actually it's not about me, it would be about my asthmatic son and fortunately we were far enough way in the Bullens not to be affected.
We didn't want goal music, we don't like flares. People complain about the stadium announcer introducing the stands before the match. Honestly, it seems as though some people won't be happy until we are sat in total silence. We should be making away fans and their team feel like they're coming to a hostile environment, unnerving them to the point where they wouldn't dare chant anything at us for fear of being skinned alive. Maybe we should buy a CPR doll, put the away team's shirt on it, stick a noose around it's neck and kick it over the side of the stadium as a warning.
Asthmatics aren't affected by the sort of flares used in Europe. How do you get him to matches seeing as there is pollution the air of any city caused by vehicles which is far more harmful? Was he the one you were once telling people would smack anyone if they stood up in front of you?
Some of our fans think we should give the opposition the same polite applause as they give our team. A hostile environment? How awful!
Oh dear- asthmatics, shortarses, claustrophobics, flaskers etc beware.......
Questions for you then: How many people need to be injured for you to consider them dangerous? How would you control exactly what type of flares/smoke bombs are allowed in a stadium? Why should a minority affect the pleasure and fun of the majority? What else from the USA or Europe would you like to see as you manage change in the birthplace of football?
Seems a well brought up lad. You must be proud. How many people has he hospitalised for standing up in front of you? And, what is your position on football violence? Jail terms and banning orders?
Yeah sorry for being an actual supporter of my team, the players, the owners and for actually enjoying watching blokes kick a ball round some green stuff. When you grow up, this will make sense to you.
Question for you. How many flares can be let off without anyone being injured before you consider them not dangerous? In fact can you tell us the ratio of injuries to flares?
