Is this not about giving the run of the mill average team out there some facilities for kids to kick about on and part of a wider obesity and anti social behavior initiative? The rich giving a relative small amount of the TV money to give kids an all weather pitch or whatever surely has to be good just from the point of view of getting kids outside and not on GTA5. i would say it highly unlikely this investment will on its own make some new wonder star for england but will maybe make kids more healthy in areas.
Sounds wicked mate Not sure how everything is set up in the UK which is problems quite different from you guys. Probably just as strange, flawed and confusing!
This fits in with most biographies I have read. In particularly, I remember Gerrard's. He said he was playing with his brother and his mates who were all a few years older than him. He learnt to defend the ball, when to play it and how to manage despite being physically weaker than them.
Tell you something for nothing. I wish I had the football knowledge and know-how (both on and off the pitch) I have now when I was thirteen / fourteen!
Agreed. Until a lot of the British coaches understand the game better then our youngsters will never have a chance. I'm not slating these people because they give up time an effort to coach kids for free most of the time. But they have been taught stuff that is just incorrect, for example if defenders are under pressure they are encouraged to just boot it up the field or out of play, then you watch someone like Agger and he either knocks the ball past the attacking player or passes it back to the keeper.
If you're interested in becoming a football coach the first port of call is your county FA. http://www.thefa.com/GetIntoFootball/CountyFA/CountyContacts
