It seems that we're getting the deeds to Warren Farm today according to this article in the Ealing Gazette. http://www.ealingtoday.co.uk/default.asp?section=info&page=eawarrenfarmoct001.htm Campaigners to seek Judicial review over privatization of Public asset. Campaigners say Ealing Council will today (22nd October) sign away protected Open Land to Queens Park Rangers football club for a âpeppercorn rentâ. The football club plan to develop a £30million sports complex at the 60-acre Warren Farm site on Windmill Lane in Southall after being given the go-ahead by Ealing Council. Nic Ferriday, chairman of the Brent River & Canal Society, said âThis is privatisation of public assets. A large area of green open space is being stolen from the public and given to an unaccountable big business.â The councilâs valuers, Kushman and Wakefield, have valued the land at£1.8 to £2.25 million pounds. But opponents - âSave Warren Farmâ group - say this is despite the planning permission which makes the land hugely valuable. They estimate the land with planning permission in the region of £32.5m. Ealing council claims there will be community benefits. Existing changing rooms have become become derelict and QPR would build some new ones. QPR would also run at their expense the few remaining (sub-size) football pitches. The council claims there will be around £8 million of community benefits, but campaigners say no details or guarantees have been seen. Mr Ferriday added: âThe council has a responsibility to achieve best value for its residents, both financially and in non-financial terms. The council has manifestly failed to do this on Warren Farm. The council has closed ranks with even the Audit Committee turning a blind eye to the giveaway.â Despite massive local opposition, the Ealing council is pressing ahead with the deal. The community is planning to take Ealing council to court, by means of Judicial Review. 22nd October 2013 Now I'm no legal expert, but if the deal is going through today, unless the judicial review is filed today, then surely it can't happen once Warren Farm is ours? And from what the action group is claiming, that the council have no guarantees that there will be any public benefit, and that they haven't seen any financial or physical proof that there will be any public benefit, this statement clearly ignores all the architect plans and public statements from the club about the site and plans for public areas. The plans clearly detail the public interest and is surely enough for the council to prove that they have considered whether there is any benefit to the public. Could they really seek a judicial review with these arguments? Any legal bods in our group who might now any more?
They haven't got the money to do anything, no one is willing to put their house on the line for a review. Massive local opposition? The nimbys had to drag their kids into a point in order to get them into double figures. Its all just a big hissy fit from them.
NIMBYs NIMBYs NIMBYs. A few manky dogs and probably a crate of drunks (seems the best collective noun for drunks?? Barrel maybe??) in a vastly under used site. Why can't people just acknowledge change which is very likely for the better? I hate the way they dress it up with altruism as being loss to the community, public land etc etc. It is only because they are inconvenienced that they care at all!
The only people who would object are dog walkers and they shouldn't be letting their dogs **** all over playing fields anyway. Ten top quality playing fields and dressing rooms are better than 20 unused pitches covered in **** and unusable drawing rooms.
The objectors are a bunch of old ******s who are opposed fthorough a combination of being that sort of person who moans and fights the sytem despite all logic because theyy've got sod all going on in their lives and it gives them some misguided purpose and a bunch of selfish ******s who are just bothered about losing some space for walking their dogs to **** all over the place and leave it as the tip it currently is. The moany twunts have been doing door to door collections in the surrounding areas. I told them to piss off and get a life. http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/040613-residents-welcome-rs-at-warren-farm-850636.aspx The benefits have already been laid out by "Lord Young, Chairman of Norwood Green Residents’ Association, told www.qpr.co.uk: “I think it is a terrific investment in our local community which we will all benefit from. “In fact, it will benefit Ealing as a whole because what we have at the moment is a very run-down sports facility with very little chance of the Council finding the money to refurbish and upgrade it. “The usage of it is also declining because of the state it’s in. People tend to use it once and not return. “When I look at what’s on offer from QPR, there is a wide range of new facilities which will be available to the community, the changing rooms will be refurbished, there will be new indoor facilities. What’s not to like?” Rangers propose to build a full multi-purpose Elite Training Facility and Community Sports Complex and it is intended that works will begin in the coming months, with the facility set to be ready ahead of the 2015/16 season. “Everyone in our community will benefit from this,” Young added. “Whether it’s young people, old people, boys, girls, people with disability. It’s fantastic and seems to me to be a very good offer. “On top of this, taxpayers won’t be paying a penny for what will be a huge investment in our community. “QPR are paying a large sum to build the facility and will be taking over the maintenance of the grounds as well. It represents another reason for us to be very pleased that QPR have chosen to come to Norwood Green. “I am very excited by the club’s pending arrival in the area. It was a great moment in the Council Chambers recently when it was approved. I think it will prove to be a very good decision for Norwood Green, and Ealing as a whole.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/0...t-warren-farm-850636.aspx#dCt7iVCD0P5vsv0L.99

Nic Ferriday Air Transport Caseworker Nic has been an environmentalist ever since leaving university where he obtained a degree in physics. After a career with British Telecom and its previous incarnations he retired early so he could, to use his own words, “do something worthwhile instead of just making money for myself”. Living in West London, he was drawn to the biggest environmental issue in the area and the biggest polluter – Heathrow. He represented Friends of the Earth at the lengthy Heathrow Terminal 5 public inquiry, dealing with aviation policy, air pollution, surface transport, economics, ecology and air pollution. The knowledge and interest gained there led to him becoming a part-time case worker for AEF, dealing with civil aviation. Nic also campaigns on transport issues for his local Friends of the Earth group, including fighting for better public transport and fewer cars, addressing air pollution, saving open spaces and trying to change planning policies. A particular concern of his, arising from many years of dealing with councils and central government, is the systematic use of spin, bias and misinformation from politicians and from the officials who support them. You can always email [email protected] and ask him how he got on with his light pollution campaign in 2003.
We build where we like, we build where we like. We're QUEENS PARK RANGERS we build where we like!!!!!"
Firstly what has it to do with the Brent water to##ers assoc. secondly, if they are so bothered about it, then why not get the Massive intrest together and campain to have it refurbished and made useable for families and kids of all ages? truth is they dont really give a toss but going against QPr gives them some air-time and free advertising. Offer them each a couple of grand tax free and i bet we'd never see them again.....To**ers.. I used to play there and the coucil AND COMMUNITY refused to put money into looking after the site so it went completely to pot Well, they had thier chance, now its up to "big bussiness" to invest there. It certainly needs some work but has massive potential..Good on us I say !
