The title says it all, forget all this sports psychology stuff, lets suggest to the players they donate their wages to charity until they win, I beat they train harder and win a game fairly sharpish! It is a nice thought is it not...but likely to happen?
In a way Billy that is my point, the only thing that seems to motivate these greedy buggers, is money and flash cars. Perhaps if this is threatened it may be the issue that will get them off their pampered fat backsides and make them behave like the professionals they are supposed to be. Do I think it is a flyer NO..but if there is a hint of a threat or perhaps if they were shamed into doing it? AJ is still apparently downing jagerbonbs as if there is no tomorrow, if his lifestylke is put into doubt perhaps he will stop drinking long enough to put in a performance? Listening to Gary Neville last night before the Palace game, he highlighted just how lazy and pathetic we were and how unfit! I will go on Sunday but frankly I am dreading it!
I thought from the Title they were actually going to show some heart and desire and decency. No such look as it's just a suggestion.
Do you think that ANY of them have ever visted a site like this to see what the fans think?? Would be interesting!
You can guarantee it mate. Maybe not the foreign lads but the others will. We have a squad full of mercenaries. A couple show pride in wearing the shirt, the others are just waiting to move their families back to Chester or some where warm. <<<<<<<Can remember days long ago, when players were coming because they wanted to play for SUNDERLAND, not because we were offering more money than someone else.
I think Martin O'neil tried at Aston Villa to have all players on a basic wage with massive bonuses depending on how many games they won, how high they finished in the league, how well they did in cups etc. This meant they had to operate as a team otherwise anybody playing poorly had their arses kicked by the other players for costing them money. Could it work? Not sure but maybe its time the clubs joined forces and put a ceiling on these ridiculously high wage earners. I appreciate some players are better than others who probably deserve some/more reward but still need them to operate in a team.
