As positive thinking as I am I think we can get out of it, it won't be pretty but survival never is.

No WE don't bonny lad. :p
I look at the table and see us realise we are only 6 points from getting out of the bottom three .
With a ****load more games to play.
    Will it be hard?
Most likely, but if we can play like we did at the Swans first half, where lets be honest they didn't look to have much bite until we imploded.
Get the players heads out of their arses and with a bit of PDC's work ethic remaining, and maybe some Poyet changes, we can do it.

Mag in peace, I honestly think you'll stay up just. Haven't watched yous much (obviously) but from mates who went to Swansea they said you looked a hell of a lot better in the first half than you have for a while. Once your luck turns ( and it will) you are better than half a dozen teams in the league and I can see you finishing 15th. Poyets teams play good football as we have experienced and he will get the confidence back ( hopefully after Sunday of course)

Hope Gus gets the lads in the right frame of mind for Sunday.A victory then, and our season will get kick-started,,and the points will come.I'm sure we'll field a different team to the one that started on Saturday, given that Gus will have a full week to get his plans across.Onwards and upwards!!

Nothing easy about being resigned to relegation, especially this early in a season!

Yet there seems to be quite a few people taking that option.

I think those who are saying 'we're down' are taking the easy way out.

After all, if we put a run together they can just hop back on the bandwagon and go along for the ride ......... which they will.

I honestly think you will stay up by the skin of your teeth.
It will be squeaky bum time and will go to the last day of the season but ultimately I think Hull, Palace and Southampton will prove OVER THE SEASON they are much worse.

We do have faith and don't need to be told by you.

A few people on a chat forum lashing out because they're angry doesn't mean we don't have faith.

Is there any thread you don't feel obliged to come on pontificating & patronising by the way?

I am eternally optimistic - but can;t see us staying up. Have been here far too many times in the past. But on the plus side of that - if we stay up we exceed my expectations and if we do go down then I'm mentally prepared for it!

In the past, with Bruce and O'Neill in charge, I was losing sleep over the team - it was getting to me that much. This season I have lost no sleep over that at all.

If we win on Sunday then my optimistic side may return as we'll likely be off the bottom of the league

I'm one of those you refer to and agree with this. If that makes me a ****e fan in anyone's eyes... So be it. Not putting words in your mouth Smug, just mention it on the off chance people feel that way.

Got enough to concern myself with in real life so will always take the easy way out with football.

It'S like being a junky. Needing an adrenaline fix at every game a great tackle, a fantastic save, a pin perfect pass and of course the spectacular goal. All these thing get you shouting at the top of your voise or turning to the person next to you saying did you see that all of which has the adrenaline flowing for a week ready for the next fix at the following game.At the moment we are having withdrawl symptomes. When we win this week end can you imagine the rush for the rest of the season. I'll be behind Sunderland till they screw the lid down but it's been a rollercoaster ride for the last 50 yrs.

My glass is always the half full kind - so I'm still hoping..

This weekend would be the perfect time to start!

Also, Gus, do what you say - select the team that you say last week's team has given you opportunity to do so and drop the most of the old guard!! Bring in the hungry young'uns and fit them around Catts, Fletch, Ki, Giacc and Jack!

    I agree with you mate.
But he took off Giac who was doing a fine job with Catts at stopping their forward momentum, pressurising them high up the pitch and making himself available for an out ball.

I like happy distractions. I'm not going to get hung up on a distraction that's a bit depressing.

I'm well aware everybody else exists in the world aise from their presence on this board but thanks for reinforcing the idea.

Not sure what you mean by 'but this isn't facebook'

Me neither mate, I've probably got the wrong end of the stick and barking up the wrong tree while cooking in my own broth <doh>

I'll leave my post, without editing, so I can either be mocked ......... or boast if I realise what the **** I was getting at when I sober up <laugh>

This would be the Southampton that's finished above the mighty Newcastle <doh>
