ARF! Coming from the supposed mature adult that spends all his time on here squabbling with a 3 year old!
Just watched Sky Sports piece where Alan Wiley and Tony Cascarino were asked to review 'controversial' weekend refereeing incidents. Needless to say both agreed their first goal should have been disallowed (Barry offside and interfering with play) whilst the same dirty bastard should have seen red with the tackle on Aluko. In terms of the latter had it been us on one of their players the Everton fans would have been baying for blood.
There is no way we would get away with it, its a typical Prem thing whereby the big teams and big names get away with stuff. Slightly off-topic but am surprised nobody else has flagged up Shearers appreciation of Suarez cheating as 'world class forward play' either, I bet if Aluko or Sagbo were clever in going down they wouldn't get the same treatment just like Barry should have been sent off
From an Everton site... Quick mention for the opposition this weekend. Everyone, and I mean everyone, tipped Hull for a tough season. And by that we all meant they were dead certs to get relegated. Well we should all get baking that humble pie now, we may well be eating it in seven months or so. Sitting in ninth, level on points with Manchester United, Hull haven’t looked out of their depth. We saw on Saturday that they have some decent quality players and Steve Bruce used all his Premier League nous to make some shrewd signings,Yannick Sagbo is starting to fit in, and Curtis Davies, Allan McGregor, and in particular Tom Huddlestone have been very good.
to counter this - a misguided Evertonian in a blog likening us to Pulis's Stoke ffs. Hull are a well drilled, physically imposing side, which Steve Bruce has set up to play a style of football which at set pieces is reminiscent of Pulis’s Stoke and in open play Moyes’s Everton. Their tall centre-backs Davis and Faye caused trouble at every corner; winning, with worrying ease, almost all their aerial duels from deeply placed crosses. Hull worked hard, closed the home team down and forced errors, but Everton always looked to have the ability to move up a gear if required. Whilst this one has us as Hull City Tigers - that from a Club that have got in a titter about the dropping of latin wording to the clubs crest and from scousers that struggle with English... http://thisisnotfootball.co.uk/2013/10/21/everton-2-hull-city-tigers-1/
How many times do we have to have this debate about flares. Every time we have it the 'against' side completely ignore the total lack of danger and the evidence to support it.
Yes, I read that this morning, made me laff as well. Faye is smaller than Distin, Jagielka is the same height as Davies, Sagbo is smaller than Lukaku, Livermore is the same height as McCarthy and Barkley is the same height as Tom Huddlestone. So the big physical players we have must be Aluko, Brady, Elmohamady and Rosenior!!!! DOH!
I know some sites list Jagielka as 1.83m/6ft 0in - but he's really not. See how he compares as the height drops from Hart to Caroll, Cahill, massively to Barry and then him here (if you ignore his silly tuft)...
Enjoyable game. Good effort against an expensive Toffee team and on another day Hull City ciould and should have got something from the game. Barry and Sagbo lucky not to see Red cards. Ref.Swarbrick not good enough for the PL. Just like Anthony Taylor who was doing the Chelsea Cardiff game. Basic shocking errors by both. It is done now, with not much damage done overall and we move on with confidence to Tottenham on sunday. Well played to all the lads. NB. Anyone who bought the retro Everton programme. The partial re-print inside of Everton v. Derby from 20/12/1969 look at the league table for that season. Both Crystal Palace and Sunderland (Wendies were bottom) are in the bottom 3 (top(1st) division back then). Not much has changed in 44 years. Lol.
Barry was in the line of sight of McGregor so the touch does matter either way. The Linesmans flag should have been up before the ball hit the post. In saying that McGregor should still have dived for it.
Hey guys, was impressed with you on Saturday. Your closing down and work off the ball was fantastic even though you tired in the second half. Whether he touched it or not is totally irrelevent, our first goal should not have counted because Barry attempted to interfere with play. First tackle on Graham from Barry was poor but more mistimed in my opinion. Wouldn't have complained if he'd been given red for it. Second challenge on Aluko(?) I think he's unlucky. He actually gets the ball but because of where he connects with the ball his studs slip over it and clatter into the Hull player's shin. It should have been a red card don't get me wrong but I don't think there was the malice that's being reported. Also, totally ignored but MOTD and I have not seen it mentioned anywhere but Sagbo had a nasty challenge on Jagielka around the 70th minute mark where he was no where near the ball and came in with his studs. On the whole, you were very unlucky and played well but I do think we were the better team overall. Particularly in terms of chances.
It was a very difficult offside for a lino to judge because Barry was moving quickly backwards at the time the ball was struck, so I wouldn't be hugely critical of the officials. It was the tackles that really annoyed me, especially after the West Ham and Villa games as well.
I hope you're going to edit that! I don't think Barry is a malicious player and both tackles were reckless rather than malicious. Thought it was a bit embarrassing when he claimed he didn't know whether or not he touched it when interviewed, after clearly claiming the touch during the game.
Well we can now say that Luck stands at 1-1 after the West Ham game. What was Kone doing hitting a post with the goal at his mercy. Lmao at that one.
